rap

a genre of music that sux. i dont give a rat's on wat its about or that its poetry. and im not just some poser who hates rap because lots of other people do. i mean, i used to listen to rap. then, i realized how stupid and shitty it is. and i dont stereotype it either. not all rap is about drugs, violence, sex, etc. some of it is, but not all of it. and im no racist either; i hate eminem, and i like black rockers like jimi hendrix
and all of u retards who say that we rockers stereotype rap should shut the fuck up. even if some of us do, u people who like rap stereotype rock too.first of all:
rock takes ass loads of talent, i mean, have u tried playings some metallica? didnt think so.
second of all:
rockers dont just hit the guitars, and scream and bang the drums, ur thinking of black metal/grindcore,(which still takes talent) an extremely tiny fraction of rock
third of all:
all rock isn't about drugs, sex, violence, rape, gore, blood, sexuality, satan, death, disease, etc. thats death metal(which is almost impossible to play) and black metal(both r still pritty good, in my opinion)
to make my point clear, rap is garabage and rock kicks ass

black dude: quit stereotyping rap!!
me: im not, u fuck bag!
Black dude: if ur not stereotyping rap, then rock isnt constant screaming and banging of instruments
me:im not, and ur a hypocrate, cuz ur stereotyping rock right now. not all rock screams and bangs, and the stuff that does takes talent, so shut the fuck up, bitch!!!

ps:ull c only some rockers bang their instruments AT THE END OF MUSIC VIDEOS, oh, and rap LICKS balls

rap

The American media's watered-down version of MCing in hip-hop music and culture. Many people confuse MCing with rapping, however, they don't realize there is a big difference. MCing involves the use of techniques such as multisyllabic rhymes, unconventional rhymes, internal rhymes, cliffhangers, catch-phrases, metaphors, similes, puns, and other forms of word play. MCing also involves the use of "droppin' science," or making songs that are used to educate or, as KRS-One calls it, "edutainment." Rapping is used in forms of "music" such as "gangsta rap," "bounce," and "crunk." although these forms of vocal music are loosely related, they do not have any influence on each other.

rap music is made by lil wayne, 50 cent, eminem, tupac, biggie, chingy, etc.

MCing is a technique used by talib kweli, mos def, common, rakim, KRS-One, Big Daddy Kane, Arrested Development, etc.

rap

A type of music people really like to hate. There are many complaints about stereotypical themes of rap that are present in most types of music. i.e. drugs, sex, pointlessness, etc. Rap, like other music, can carry meaningful messages, but most people like to only hear and see what they want when listening to it. Hip hop that can be heard in clubs and the like should not be confused with rap as it is less likely to carry any meaning. Even so, I would like to see people dance (grind) to any other type of music.

I hate rap so I say things like: "Retarded people listen to rap because they stupid" and "No, it sucks too much. It some of that rap shit" because I am uneducated and I also hate grammar.
I also like to giggle to myself when I think about the word "rap" being in the word "crap."

rap

not a fan of the genre. the stuff that becomes "popular" is usually some lame piece of crap about how you're gonna superman dat hoe. no one gives a crap.

then there's those ones about poverty and stuff. thing is the point of a song is to get you to think. but they talk fast and just go on and on so you don't have time to think. seriously.

if somone came up to you and started talking super fast "ohmygodmylifesucksitssobadbecauseofdrugsiknowdonttakethembecausehteyruinedmylifeandmyfamily" you wouldn't think that is rap right? so how does that make rap different? if i threw a beat into a slurred speach about poverty it could be considered the next greatest rap.

yeah some people say "omg rock needs lots of people so that takes no skill"
misconseption. or some over defensive way to get back at the rap haters or something. when you say that you imply that anyone who plays in an orchestra has no skill. uh... hello they spent a long time learning music theory and how their instrument works i think that qualifies as skill even if they need a full sized orchestra to make the sound full. also saying that implies that you think britney spears has skill. uh well shes a solo artist right? like rappers? and its not like shes used a guitar or drums. like rappers. so how does that make her different?

then there's the rant "it takes a lot of skill to make the beat blah blah" if you can explain how it is done, and ive seen people explain it... then its probably not a life and death struggle that you describe it to be. also youre saying that coming up with a beat is incredibly hard and impossible... but learning how to keep a beat with drums and make them entertaining to listen to also takes time and skill. so does learning how to play guitar and make it sound entertaining. when you make coming up with a freaking beat sound like a life and death struggle youre making it seem like actually learning an instrument takes no skill.

and please dont describe writing rap as a life and death struggle. how does writting rap make it different then songs of other genres?

bottom line: lets not get too defensive about our favorite genres here. if underground rap is good and mainstream rap is bad then who cares about what the mainstream thinks? dont blame them and call them white rednecks either. you just sound stupid. and like you're trying to sound like a black person. unless you are but if you are you still sound stupid.

besides if someone hears a few crappy songs why would anyone want to go further into a genre? i mean ive heard crap from dances and decided rap took no skill. then i got curious, looked up rap on wikipedia, found out about the stuff from the 70's listened to that and decided "well this is different from the mainstream crap people try to sell just because they make money"

sure rap still isn't my genre, but its not as bad as i first thought. but thats because i took time to listen to something that most people like me wouldn't bother. and don't blame them.

rap isnt my genre

rap

1) Retards Attempting Poetry
2) Meaningless shit that tends to have a reasonably good beat. Bad grammar mixed with bad spelling, with a dash of perversion
3) A seriously overrated style of writing, mostly used by black "ganstas." Occasionally white people attempt rap, but are flared at for being wiggers. Some, such as Eminem managed to make a good name for themselves through fart jokes. Ironically, Eminem wrote the occasional meaningful song.

1) At least Shakespeare made a damn good attempt, now they don't even try.
2) Rap used to be about big asses. Now it's about sex, the street, cars, and DENTALWEAR of all things. But it's still mostly about girls shaking their asses
3) Missy Elliot is a girl rapper, and she goes around bragging about how hot she is. She even wrote a song called I'm Really Hot. If that isn't sad, I don't know what is
