Straight Edge

Straight edge was invented by a song from the band Minor Threat in the early 80's. It was all started by one line in a 45 second song, I've got the straight edge. It was invented in Washington DC and was brought up to Boston by a guy named Al Bareal he invented hardline. Straight edge has three simple rules no drinking, no drugs, and no smoking. Hardline is much like straight edge but has more rules than just no drinking, no smoking, and no drugs. No caffine, have to be a vegetarian or vegan, no sex unless it's procreation, no imported chocolate, no porn, no masterbating are some of the other rules. There are two types of straight edge lifestyles the positive an the militant. Boston is known for it's militant type edge, Boston Beatdown. Straight Edge is a lifestyle not a label. It is a new generation. Here is the real history and def of straight edge.

There is no example either your straight edge or not

straight edge sex

Straight edge sex takes place between two people, one or both of whom are straight edge, who have sex because they care for one another rather than because it is available.

Contrary to what has been written, straight edge - see also straightedge and sxe - people do often have premarital sex (though some do not), but abstain from casual sex without a committed relationship and/or deep emotional bond with the person they are having sex with.

Straight edge sex is an expression of love between two people, not just a "good time" with an acquiantance.

Christian Straight Edge

Someone who is Straight Edge, but still is a Christ follower. That simple. The only differences are this:
1. No Drugs
2. No Premarital sex (apposed to no promiscuous sex)
3. No Alcohol
4. NOT every CSE kid is a self-righteous jerk.
(YES, we still have a good time. We just party sober, oh and that stupid myth that Christians can't have tattoos is ridiculous. Were usually covered.)

Slim differences, almost nothing different. Though, a lot of sXe kids don't believe in Christ. There are a few.

Eric: "Hey bud, I thought edge kids had no religion?"
Kyle: "I don't have religion, I have a relationship with Christ and I keep my body clean of Drugs and Alcohol. Represent Christian Straight Edge."

Straight Edge Reborn

A person who is straight-edge,but " breaks edge" by drinking, smoking, or doing drugs, then in turn wishes to become straight-edge again, must commit to sobriety for one whole year to then become full straight-edge once more. Also this person must be under 21 to be reborn and over 21 is considered straight-edge renewed but this requires three years of committing to sobriety.

straight edge

A movement started in the early 80's from the hardcore punk scene. Basically it means to be drug free.

One major note: you can't be edge if you have more than three bedrooms in your house.

1) "Dude, the school newspaper did an article about that straight edge kid. He's pretty cool."

"Yeah, but he's got more than three bedrooms in his house, so he's a FAKIE."

2) "Dude...that edge kid has four bedrooms in his house!"

"WHAT WOULD IAN MCKAYE SAY!!?!?!?!?"

straight edge

Once affiliated with the conservative element of the punk movement (against drugs, alcohol and casual sex, extremist elements were anti-abortion and sometimes violent) in the 1980s. Now, however, the meaning can also include people who distinguish themselves from their peer group by abstaining from drugs and alcohol by personal choice rather than by affiliation with the punk subculture ideology.

1988:
Pete wears electrical-tape X's on his hands and burns down abortion clinics, he's a punk-rock mix of Ronald Reagan and the Muslim Brotherhood

2008:
Pete doesn't poke the smot with the rest of us cause he's straight edge, but we love him anyway cause he bakes us lots of betty crocker when we're high.
