Due to the lack of sunlight in Scotland and cold temperatures -particularly in the North- it is often said that people develope very pale skin with a blue hue to it. This is known as a Scottish tan.
Look at him. He's only been in Scotland for 6 months and already he's got a Scottish tan.

Originally used to describe the pallor which developed amongst inveterate D&D players, it widened to include denizens of any stripe who resided in the basement of their parents. Most recently it is used to describe the complexion of any video game addict.
1978: His dungeon tan is proof enough that he is an indestructible wizard.
1998: "Yo, ghost boy ! Nice dungeon tan. I see that you gave up POGs for Magic Cards !"
2008: PlayStation and Xbox gave him the dungeon tan. But at least Wii gives him some muscle tone.

a white man who is tan all the time and constantly walks around without his shirt on to show off how retardedly tan he is. "Tan Akroyd" and "Danny Tanner" are also acceptable forms of this term.
Long arms Steve looks like Tan Marino. All he does is lay on the beach all day, gets tan and tries to lure girls with his tanning oil to come and hang out with him. He's a real creep that guy.

A freckle-tan is the Irish version of a tan. Unlike most other races, the Irish are stereotypically unable to "turn colors" as well as the Italians for example. Thus, we get these uneven dots called freckles. Just as an Italian or Greek will get a bad tan line, or a German or Irish person get a bad burn; a 'freckle tan' is what can sometimes occur for the light skinned peoples. (Almost like a farmers tan but instead of a tan, freckles are present.)
The skin that is not exposed on ones arm will have the same lightly speckled freckles that it has always had... the skin is 'white' at the end of the day. The skin however that was not covered and WAS exposed to the sun will be heavily dotted with very dark freckles.
Thus, when the sleeve is pulled, one will have a distinct freckle line or 'Freckle-Tan'
