Random is a term used for something which is very out of the blue, like when there is a big silence and then somebody says a 'random' word, which would normally not be at all funny, and then starts uncontrolable laughing.
Random words made up (or adopted) by me (Lucy W): shmugamuga, chimpish fool, silly plonker, meep...
Person 1: Hi
Person 2: Hi
*SILENCE*
Person 1: Cows!
Person 2: That was random!
