code drop

The common definition of 'code drop' is to deploy new or updated application code. Stems from the usage of "drop boxes" to deposit said code onto, from which an automated system or an engineer deploys the code in some useful or not so useful manner. "Code drop" can refer to the placement of code for a deployment, or it can refer to the actual process of deploying the code, also called a code deployment.

coworker 1: "What's a code drop?"
coworker 2: "Shit man, google yo!"
<1 minute later>
coworker 2: "Crap, there's no easily accessible definition on the web, I'll urbandictionary it."

---

coworker 1: Hey, can you take this code drop?
coworker 2: No way man, that application is always broken. I'm not sticking my hand into that hole.

---

coworker 2: What are all these <application name> alerts coming from??? Who broke <application name>???!
coworker 1: Shit, it must have been bad code in that code drop I just deployed!
-or-
coworker 1: Shit, it must have been my code drop!
-or-
coworker 1: Fuck, we're all dead! That was the reactor core regulator code!

Beef Drop

Launching the most egregious, rank and gag inducing flatulence while in a crowded room. The kind that's thick and clings to the air for several minutes but still lingers in the nostrils after it dissipates.

Don't go over by the bar for about 10 minutes. I just did a beef drop. Look at them over there. They can't breath.

shuttle drop

An action used primarily on Pizza Shuttle's pizzas. Known for their excessive amounts of grease, these pizzas require very specific handling. In addition to the necessity of eating them only within an hour of the purchase, one can preform the 'Shuttle drop'. Essentially, after purchasing said pizza, one leaves it in the box, flips it over, and drops the pizza on the floor. The pizza is then picked up, and the inside of the box is examined. The grease that was once on the pizza has now been soaked up by the cardboard. The pizza is now ready for consumption.

Person One: "Oh goodie....Pizza Shuttle pizza!"
Person Two: "Quick....let us eat it before it becomes a slab of concrete saturated by grease!"
Person One: "Nonsense...quick! Preform the shuttle drop and all will be well!"
Person Two: "Don't be silly!" *eats pizza* "Oh no...I can feel my arteries clogging!" *dies"
Person Three: "Holy wow! What happened to him?!"
Person One: "He neglected the shuttle drop."
Person Three: "Then he deserved to die."

drop the ball

1. Make an error; miss an opportunity; fail.

2. To make a mistake, especially by doing something in a stupid or careless way.

3. To fail to keep working to reach a goal.

This expression comes from the game of FOOTBALL, where it's not a good thing to drop the ball when the ball is in play. It's mainly used based on failure and mistakes. So, if you want to tell someone how important it is to succeed in a particular activity, then this is a good expression to use.

MAN #2: You can trust me.

MAN #1: I don't know. Everytime I depend on you, you drop the ball.

Neutral drop

When you put your vehicle in neutral gear, rev the RPM's up real high then throw it into drive. Thus making your tires spin. This is normally done on vehicles with automatic transmissions that dont have the power to burnout by fully depressing the gas pedal. Unfortunatly neutral dropping can ruin your transmission or driveshaft.

I did a neutral drop on a geo metro and managed to lay down two feet of rubber! :D

Brand Dropping

Mentioning that you're wearing an expensive brand of clothing, using an expensive piece of technology, or bragging about other items that you own which are of high value. Brand Dropping is similar to name dropping, the main difference is mentioning merchandise in lieu of a person.

Jon: Dude! Watch it, if you spill that drink on my $ 350 Zegna shirt I'm gonna lose it.

Dave: Stop brand dropping Jon. No one cares what kind of shirt that is.
