The act of pretending to fish without a pole or supplies
I was at the river and I didn't want to look dumb so I pretended to reel in a fish, it's called fake fishing.
The act of pretending to fish to not look dumb in front of others. One does not need a fishing pole, bait, etc. to fake fish.
Friend 1:Dude I was at the river alone and I didn't want to look dumb in front of others so I started to fake fish and pretended I was reeling in a fish.
Friend 2 : Isnt that more dumb than being alone ?

To add in a small specific detail into a lie in order to make your lie seem more convincing.
I thought the story he was telling was legitimate, then he added some random useless information to make the story seem more believable, then I knew he was faking the snake.
A fake bailey is someone who is supposed to have the last name Bailey but instead have a random dudes name.
