A Madoff Artist offers to invest your money and promises you 12.5% return on your investments with no risks. It looks good on paper, but he doesn't make investments with any other trading firm and just gives you other "investors'" money. A Madoff Artists keeps his Ponzi Scheme going until there is no more money and the well dries up. When the well dries up that's when the Madoff Artists has no more money to return and people ask for their money to be returned. The scam falls apart and the Madoff Artist get arrested, charged with securities fraud, pleas guilty or takes his chances in court, convicted, and sent to Federal prison.
The moral: Don't let the deadly sin of greed get to you and invest your own money on Wall Street. Invest your own money on Wall Street and accept the risks that come with the territory.
