Every parent knows what short-eyes means. It's that weird man (or woman) who doesn't look the parent in the eye, but instead looks down to stare at the children. In prison, it refers to a pedo.
Husband: Did you see that weird dude looking down at our little Suzy ???
Wife: I did. He's definitely a short-eye.
Husband: Should I kick the pedo's ass ?
Wife: Let's just get the hell outta here before he comes back !

guy shorts that girls wear, only cool when authentic (IE bought in the guys department or stolen from a boyfriend or something). mad comfortable, makes me not wanna wear female shorts anymore.
i bought new man shorts at the mall last week, and people were looking at me kinda funny when they saw me browsing the guy's department. man shorts rock!!!

Traditionally, "shorting a stock" means borrowing shares of stock from another broker, selling them, then buying them back (after the price has fallen) in order to return the stocks to the broker from whom they were borrowed.
You can short a stock using a derivative; this can include buying futures in the stock (i.e., a contract to sell someone else the stocks); or buying a put option (also called a put). A third way is to write a call (i.e., a call option, also known as a call) for the stock.
Shorting a stock usually requires a great deal of skill and courage; even the most talented short will only make money during rare crises.

(FINANCE) a situation in which an investor owns financial instruments (shares, bonds, financial derivatives, etc.) that will make the most money IF some other thing declines in value.
Therefore, one always has to take a short position on something in particular. A short position on gold means the investor expects gold to decline in value in the near future, and has bought various things to make money if it does.
Some ways to take a short position on X include:
(1) buying a put option on X
(2) writing a call option on X
(3) borrowing X and selling it (shorting a stock)
#3 is the classical way to take a short position. It was dangerous because a skillful trader could squeeze the shorts using a corner.
BILL: I guess you took a bath when the stock market tanked, huh?
ANA: Nope. I took a short position on all of the nine largest banks. Did rather well, thank you very much.
