A drag performer engages in live theatrical performance as a member of the opposite gender ("drag king" if female-to-male, "drag queen" if male-to-female). Their sex and gender presentation is usually exaggerated to comic effect.

It is not uncommon for a drag performer to choose a stage name so that the last name matches that of a mentor.
