fractal marketing

Fractal marketing is the process by which a product or service is promoted through modern electronic media and is subsequently picked up and scattered by potential consumers.

Whereas viral marketing presupposes that a consumer is infected with the intended message, fractal marketing reflects that the consumer modifies the message: it's still part of the snowflake's pattern, just a unique piece of it.

An example of fractal marketing would be Apple's Switch campaign of 2002 and Ellen Feiss's subsequently marketed web identity. They are affiliated, they are part of the same pattern, but this outcome could not be predicted by Apple.

fandom fractal

A big fanbase that keeps spawning modified and fan-based versions of the original game/concept/show etc. until it reiterates on the modified version and continues even after reaching a saturation point.

The Undertale Fandom has so many fan-based AUs, it's a fandom fractal at this point, why can't they put all that effort into something new and original instead?

fractal shirt

An infinitely wrinkled shirt. Often seen on IT staff who wear a single shirt for days on end, wrinkling if in the process of sleeping in their chairs, under their desks, on the corporate couch, etc.

I pressed the doorbell, and this techie in a fractal shirt and 5 days' worth of beard opened the door, groggily.

Love Fractal

A love fractal is a more endless and messy love triangle. It is where the author, or readers, ship everybody with everybody. It often results in polyamorous ships.

Oh god, please don't tell me it's a love fractal, because you know how fans can ruin a story.

Fractal graph

When someone puts a term in a sentence that nobody understands but the person behaves as if it's so obvious that everybody understands and not understanding it is super unobvious and should make you feel stupid.

You don't know fractal graph?!

Polu totally fractal graphed that that guy!

fractal logic

Extreme circular logic wherein it is fruitless to continue to examine an issue because doing so yields more of the same; beyond the relative sane limits of circular logic; the equivalent of a three-year-old's continued use of the reason 'because' when asked 'why' repeatedly by another three-year-old.

Having read my Senator's reply to my request for information on his position concerning the budget, I could only conclude that his many referrals to his original position without further clarification was a perfect example of fractal logic.
