Indian

Someone from or who’s ancestors are from the country India. People often incorrectly call Native Americans Indians and the Caribbean is called the West Indies, so sometimes people specify by saying East Indian or Asian Indian.

Person 1: what ethnicity is your dad?
Person 2: he’s Indian.
Person 1: which tribe?
Person 2: he’s not Native American, he’s Indian. His parents are from the country India.
Person 1: so East Indian? He must be a Hindu.
Person 2: you are so ignorant, not all Indians are Hindus. He’s catholic, just like my mom.

Ignoring all the racist comments and such, I'll have to add that most people don't have a correct image of Indians. Has anyone noticed that the tip of North India touches the China border? Does anyone have the knowledge that there are many different appearances of Indians?

Indians have a variety of appearances. I am pure Indian, from the tip of the north, and I have green eyes, fair skin, and brown hair... light brown at that. There is no one related to me who is not Indian. People have never known from first look that I am Indian.

Indians from the north look very Chinese or Spanish (not sure what the green eyes and brown hair leads to), Indians from the south tend to have darker skin (naturally because they're closer to the equator), and from the middle they have golden or light caramel skin. Most people think of Southern Indians and no others but this is not the whole picture.

I'm proud of my origin and I think my people are very beautiful as they are. Because we have so many colors (from the palest to the darkest) we are very accepting of everyone. India is a beautiful country and so are our people.

Me: The country I am from is India...

Person: You're not Indian! You're white!

Me: Shut up you ignorant kid... not all Indians are dark, and even if some are, does it really matter?

The Indian

When you're having sex with a girl who is on the rag and you pull out and tap the knob of your penis inbetween her eyes which leaves a red spot.

I thought he was pulling it out to put it in my mouth, but instead he gave me The Indian.

Indian

The one who feels like the country was taken away from him/her, since it was.

An Indian really had his/her land taken away from him/her. Everybody else moved here more recently.

Indian

By definition it should refer to those who are from or trace their ancestry to India, but is also commonly used in the U.S. and Canada to refer to indigenous/native peoples of North America.

The term is commonly thought to have begun with the misconception by Christopher Columbus that the Caribbean islands were the islands of the Indian Ocean (known to Europeans as the Indies) which he had hoped to reach by sailing west across the Atlantic. Even though Columbus’ mistake was soon recognized, the name stuck and for centuries the native people of the Americans were collectively called Indians.

American Indian is the most common and politically correct modern term for indigenous American peoples, particularly in legal/official language. “Indian” or “Indian American” can connote people from or who trace their heritage to India, however "Indian" is still widely used to refer to natives, particularly in contexts where it is unlikely to be confused with people from India. In general, native people prefer the term American Indian to Native American, though the latter is in common use and the terms are basically interchangeable. “Indian” is a rather collective term that disregards the cultural/geographical diversity of the peoples it refers to, thus the best descriptor is to refer to specific tribes by their tribe name (e.g. “he is Cherokee”).

In Canada, where East Indians outnumber those of aboriginal ancestry, the term First Nation is commonly used.

I lost all my money at the casino to those Indians.

Indians are an academically advanced people who when given the opportunity will often exceed others in any given area of expertise. They are also known for their spicy foods and curries, and inventing the idea of '0' before the Mayans. Hinduism, the main religion, is the one of the oldest surviving religions in the world and the most tolerant of other religions. Bollywood and bhangra music are entering into the American mainstream with hits such as the blockbuster movie Bend it like Beckham and the hit music track, Beware of the Boys

Dude, have u heard that one track by Jay-Z and the Punjabi MC? It's called 'Beware of the Boys', go check it out if you love indians
