NME Child

The NME is a (rubbish) weekly music magazine/newspaper.
The NME Children are those who read it religiously, and once the NME says/does something, they do it too, to be cool.
One Prime Example: The NME says they like Pete Doherty, all the twelve year olds run around screaming they love him. Once the NME decides he broke up The Libertines, thus the NME don't like him anymore, the NME children rip up all their posters, cross out the hearts with his name written in them, and run aroud saying they hate him.

Normal person: What style of music would you say The Futureheads are?
NME Child: Art punk! The NME says so.

Normal person: Do you like The Killers?
NME Child: Of course I do! They're in the NME, like... Every week!

nme kid

An NME reader who literally lives by it, if NME says a band is good, the nme kid will instantly have liked them for ages. If NME says a band is over, the nme kid will rip up their posters of that band, burn their cd's and pretend they never liked them at all

Jim was a huge Libertines fan until NME started to turn on Pete, he's got rid of all his Libs stuff now, he's such an nme kid

Shit NME Band

A bog-standard, charisma-deficient, boring-shouty-guitar-rock "indie" band propelled to undeserved stardom through favourable reviews/coverage in the NME, a once-great, now-rubbish music weekly.

Sadly, in the UK, many people consider these bands to be the definition of indie.

Kasabian, Hard-Fi, The Kooks, Babyshambles, The Arctic Monkeys, Bloc Party, Razorlight: shit NME bands.
