1. A backup designated driver usually employed when the the primary designated driver gets sloppy drunk.
2. A Space Shuttle made ready on the launch pad to rescue astronauts if their crew accidentally leaves them in in space.
1. Damn it! Ted can barely stand up, use your cell to call the rescue shuttle.
2. Oh Snap! We left Commander Johnson outside on the spacewalk. I guess we'll have to radio NASA for the rescue shuttle.

Not actually a toaster at all, a small robot who's primary function is to collect objects from the ground that it desires, such as teeth, to make a necklace. When attacked will retaliate with a large stilson wrench.

When there is beef between people and you're a bystander and you think the roast is going to go down and things are going to get worse you grab a friend for backup A.K.A your Fire Rescue.

You're in a club and you see a girl leave her drink at the bar when she goes to powder her nose. When she comes back, instead of actually spiking her drink, rush over to her and scream "DON'T DRINK THAT!". Explain you saw some middle-aged guy slip something into her drink and you just wanted to make sure she didn't end up Fritzl'd.
Next, slyly suggest she needs a new drink and that you would be willing to buy it her. How it goes from there is up to you.

I went to the dog auction this weekend and saw all the retail rescues buying dogs from breeders to resell using the term adoption.
