When the main character in a production (Mostly Disney) that appears on either television or film such is normal in the beginning, shallow in the middle, and becomes normal again in the end, realizing what a total dick it was. I just call it HSM syndrome because it's one of the most obvious film you would see it in.
Troy Bolton in HSM 2
Jo in Mean Girls 2
Kady in Mean Girls
They are all clear examples of High School Musical Syndrome. If you don't believe me look it up for yourselves.

an illness affecting millions around the world, with symptoms such as stuck-up behaviour, entitlement, superiority complex, and a narcissistic personality as a result of always getting their way, not providing for themselves/using daddy’s money, and/or rebellion and thinking that everything revolves around them. no consideration to people around them and in half of the cases massive conservatives/tories.
“did you hear that girl who smashed up her new birthday car because it wasn’t blue but black?”
“she goes to the private school down the road, you can tell she has private school syndrome.”
Feeling that kicks in when a girl watches some romantic movie, usually Disney like High School Musical. Girl gets romantic vibes on the perfect romantic guys in the movie that do romantic stuff to show their love. After seeing it, girl starts to judge her own relationship or loses interest on normal real guys, because reality seems way too simple to the new high standards caused by a movie. Also -- HSM Syndrome.
"Why won't he drive his way to my house in the middle of the night, because that would be just so freaking romantic, but nooooo guys are just way too "lazy"!"
"Oh gosh. What a total High School Musical Syndrome..."
when someone joins a school, and instead of adapting to the new environment and making new friends, they latch onto one person and only talk to/ follow them around. they may briefly interact with this person’s other friends, but will not try to become real friends with them.
during break, at parties, or meet ups they will only stay next to their target.
this usually takes the form of a romantic/sexual relationship that develops at an unusually fast rate at the beginning of the school year, but can also be platonic.
an infected person will become dependent on their host, as they are their only form of social and physical connection in the school and they cannot afford to lose it.
there is currently no cure for this syndrome, and the infected must try to overcome the anxiety of a new school and make other friends, as if the relationship falls apart they will be left completely isolated and alone in the school.
“hey did you see that the new kid Jess is already dating Brad, even though theyve only known each other for a month”
“yeah, she’s definitely got new school syndrome”
a rare non-contagious disease were certain individuals who enter the school system almost instantly starts to begin lacking common sense, it can occur over months or over a day, how fast the disease deteriorates your ability to freely think varies from person to person, some case studies find that depending on your position in the school system, from substitute teacher to Assistant Principle, could have a leading factor into the pace of which the disease occurs.
Did you hear that the substitute got fired? yeah... I think she had Middle school syndrome
