Shemp pretty much means that something is less than expected or skimped. Anytime you get less than what you expect it is considered shemp. This term was used in the Lake Tahoe/ Northern California area in the Mary Jane subcultures.

Term coined by director great, Sam Raimi, referring to actors who stand in for those that aren't currently available. Usually dubbed in and with the back facing to the camera.
Bruce Campbell is sick with the flu, just put a fake shemp in for that last scene he needs to film...

Sup Shemp is a mysterious term whose origins have been questioned for many centuries. It has recently been discovered that the term "Shemp" is derived from the classic member of the Three Stooges.
