The plural of elitist. In short, a person, or group of persons, who believes something about them make them superior to others, and they feel the need to flaunt their superiority.
Elitists are scum, no matter who they support.

A snob. A person who feels superior to other humans based on superficial factors such as wealth, education level, physical appearance etc...ignorant people crippled by a childish sense of entitlement resulting in a failure to understand that as a species we are all one.

A word used by the far right wing to label people who are intelligent as not being of the people. By doing so, the far right wing is insulting those they wish to reach by saying that couldn't possibly relate to anyone an IQ over 100.
Even thought John McCain owns 7 homes, is worth over 100 million dollars, has an economic advisor who thinks that our recession is caused by whiners, and doesn't have a clue how much a gallon of milk costs, he still calls Obama an elitist.

'Elitist: Slang commonly used by entry lvl music plebs and posers for a person or group of people who the certain individual envys on a high level and secretly seeks friendship and approval from, however in return recieves nothing but heartache from the unaware object of their obsession.

( American definition) Anyone who got where they are in life purely on intellectual capabilities. Anyone who insists on high academic standards, demands proof of theories or scientifically substantiated proposals. Anyone who entered the Ivies, MIT, Stanford or Caltech based on actual academic merit. Anyone who can develop a cogent, original analysis on a subject from a wide range credible factual or historical sources.
Obama is such an Elitist, he wants to check the rethugs' math.
