Google translate

Something that’s supposed to be used to translate text between languages but then screws everything up.

Person one: what’s google translate?
Person two: something that screws everything up?
Person one: so it’s like me?

Google Translate

An inaccurate translator app created by Google. It has a limit to how much translating it can handle before everything turns to gibberish, and that limit is often exploited by bored children on the internet who have nothing better to do. For example, ayypulp is a word created by Google Translate because Google itself could not find any results for it.

Me: I was messing with Google Translate yesterday and created a word
My Friends: cool what is it
Me: Ayypulp.

Google Translate Sings

Google Translate Sings is the concept of Putting songs through several different languages in google translate and then back to English and singing the results .

Originated by Malinda Kathleen Reese on her Youtube Channel: Translator Fails In 2014 with a Google Translated version of “Let It Go” from Disney’s Frozen, which led to Malinda continuing the series for years to come after it’s initial and surprising success and reaching 1 Million subscribers in 2019.

Jimmy Fallon started his own version of this trend, dubbed “Google Translate Songs” on his Late Night Show In 2017 with Guests such as Miley Cyrus and Idris Elba. Jimmy’s take on the series seemed to end after a situation of him copying Malinda’s Google Translate Sings: Mamma Mia video with Amanda Seyfried on his show in 2018, and posting it on his youtube only to be deleted soon after.

Wow , I can’t Believe Jimmy Fallon ripped off Malinda Kathleen Reese’s “Google Translate Sings” series!

Google translate sings.

A funny gig on YouTube by a wonderful singer named Malinda Kathleen Reese, who feeds the lyrics to well known pop songs into Google Translate, through several languages perhaps, and then back into English. She then sings the silly translation that come out, to the original music. A new use for the internet, Google Translate meets YouTube.

google translate grind

A google translate grind is a poem put though google translate seventeen times until it resembles something entirely different. Each different output language must have been chosen at random.

The first paragraph of In Midnight Sleep by Walt Whitman, which happens to be in public domain, could come out like this:
El somni , molt dolor a la cara ,
A primera vista , el dany greu - un espectacle indescriptible
Ella estava en la seva esquena i braços per augmentar la capacitat
Jo son, son, son.

And if translated back into english (an 18th time translated) it comes out like this:
Sleep, a lot of pain in the face,
At first glance, the harm - an indescribable spectacle
She was on her back and arms to increase capacity
I sleep, sleep, sleep.

This is the original version:

In midnight sleep, of many a face of anguish,
Of the look at first of the mortally wounded - of that indescribable look;
Of the dead on their backs, with arms extended wide,
I dream, I dream, I dream.

Spoken: "This is a google translate grind," or "this is a google translate hard grind" depending on the final output language. Language of origin equaling that of final output equals hard.
