A term to collectively describe the friends, family and other social networks that live far enough away from you that you're limited to communicating through phone calls, sms, AIM, facebook, etc.
I've been doing a bad job at living my long distance life lately, I haven't talked to my old college buddies for three weeks.
The kinda mental illness that rips you apart from the inside. 'Tis an idiot that develops one, and yet anyone can fall prey.
Either you move on, or wait until you can see each other on a regular basis to go beyond friendship, or confess and renew all agony no matter what their answer. If they like you back, the distance will kill, and if they don't, then you just screwed up a decent friendship, sucker! It's a salope of a situation.
doctor: And what are her symptoms?
concerned individual: General moodiness, addiction to her phone/computer, inability to keep from mentioning a certain person on a regular basis...
doctor: Has this lasted over a month?
concerned individual: Well over.
doctor: We have here a severe case of long distance crush. Behead her and end her misery.

When two bros constantly text and let everyone know about their bromance over social media, but never hang out. Tends to intensify when these bros break up with their girlfriends and the friend group dissolves, or when both bros get new girlfriends and thus have no time for extracurricular activities.
Guy 1: "Man, Drake and Lil Wayne are solid bros."
Guy 2: "Yeah, that's why they stay single. If they had girlfriends, you know what would happen..."
Guy 1: "Long distance brolationship. Bro, I hope that never happens to us."
