techno

A popular music genre that doesn't glorify crime - violance - misogynism - or drug use (like rap does)

Damn you peopoe are not the smartest bunch are you? Daft Punk isn't Techno. Daft Punk is French House. Techno isn't a new version of Disco. Disco House is a new version of Disco. Tiesto - Obsession (Frank Biazzi Remix) is Techno, Plastikman - Spastik is Techno. Adam Beyer, Chris Liebing, Jeff Mills, (New)Commander Tom, (New)Sven Vath, Gayle San, Misstress Barbara, Brian Zentz, Juan Atkins, Kevin Saunderson, Derrick May, Umek, Dave Clarke are all Techno. And man is it oh so good.

techno

Misunderstood and constantly assaulted and debated. Techno is sound, rock is sound, House is sound, every single genre of music and music in general is noise bent to rhythym. Contrary to popular belief Techno takes effort to make. Techno compensates for its lack of lyrics with more melodius content. I'm not saying it is neccesarily true since there is a lot of bad techno and good techno. People need to start noticing that the machine did not make the music, the artist did. A lot of artists sample noise they have made ir they have fiddled with the equiptment to re-sample the sound. Takes as much effort as to find the tune on the piano, or the guitar or the brass/wind/reed instrument (unfortunately enough the last instrument(s) aren't exactly popular anymore). Its a genre of music that is a lot of the time difficult because it experimental. It needs to be, for it is an evolving genre of music akin to all other genres

Aphex Twin, Squarepusher, Autechre etc etc forgive me if I missed several dozen other fine techno artists. They're all good

techno

A type of electronic music that orginally spawned in Detroit, Michigan. Detroit Techno in turn derived from Synth Pop and Electro. Kraftwerk was May, Atkins, and Saunderson's main influence. Techno is nothing but a subgenre in the electronic music community. Detroit Techno is still very much alive, albeit dead in the city of Detroit (hmmmmm, wonder why....). Techno is also a word that is erroneously used as a blanket term for all other subgenres of electronic music. No, Techno isn't the Trance and House music you hear in the clubs, morons! They're all different! That being said, it may be done with electronic equipment, but it takes true talent to make music that is coherent and actually artistic, much opposed to the radio triteness the public has been exposed to. Electronic music was descended from Avant-Garde Minimalism, which in turn, evolved from Classical Music.

Good artists worth hearing:
Aphex Twin
Squarepusher
mu-ziq
Plastikman
The Prodigy
Orbital
The Chemical Brothers
Moby
Daft Punk
Cybotron
Derrick May
Inner City
**much more other artists as well**

Oh yeah, and to those people who dis techno, but love the trite, bastardised "hip hop", I truly feel sorry for you people. You have no idea or any coherent knowledge of techno, and you still wail on in how it's the worst thing ever. Guess what? Look yourself in the mirror, and stop being a damn sheep.

without techno, there would be no crap rap
techno is more than beats also; it's spawned the likes of prodigy, orbital, kraftwerk.

it's also given rise to big beat, industrial, gabba, acid, trance, ambient etc

I like a combination of music, namely electronic music and rock, but I have no time for rap, eminem may take the piss out of moby but if it wasn't for early electronic and techno influences, pop shit, rap and hip hop would be nowhere.
