the best band ever to walk the face of this earth, formed out of Jersey, by lead vocalist Gerard Way. brother Mikey on bass, "lover" Frank Iero on rhythm guitar, Bob Bryar on drums, and Ray Toro on lead guitar (AMAZING GUITARIST). MCR has gone through so much, with Gerard's struggle against alcoholism and drug abuse for the first few years of MCR's life. the name "my chemical romance" was formed by bassist Mikey Way after he saw the words "chemical romance" in a blurb on the back of a book while working in a book store, he simply added "my" to create the epic band name MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE. these guys are freaking awesome.

A band that teenybopper girls love because the lead singer is "hot". MCR is just another copycat "emo" wannabe band that sucks shit. Their music is a disgrace to real bands such as The Beatles, The Who, The Rolling Stones. etc. Why can't there be music like that anymore? MCR is also another word for shit

best fricken band ever! they are so sweet and nice. plus they're music is so amazing, they really do save lifes. I love them and so should you. Dont judge them when you've probably only 3 songs by themaka I'm not okay,Helena, & The Ghost of you listen to songs like headfirst for halos or Give Em Hell Kid, because thats what they're really all about. I'm not sating that those aren't good or anything , just saying that people judge them on those songs. Okay, stop trying to label them into some type of cardgorey. get it? I've read prety much every single definantion for them on this site and over half of you put in the first line....

I am seriously appalled by the complete idiocy of the nature of some of these posts. I for one, do not attempt to label bands, one simply enjoys listening to them or does not. This dictionary is for people to obtain an understanding of what My Chemical Romance is, personal expression (whether it be supporting or disagreeing with their music/image) is truly not necessary. If you like the band, then that’s perfectly fine. If you don’t, that’s perfectly fine also. But just because your opinion differs from someone else’s, does not mean you should post entries on Urban Dictionary calling people “fags,” “gay,” or any other rude and completely unnecessary name. Does it matter whether My Chemical Romance is “emo” “punk “ “pop-punk” “rock” or anything else, for that matter? No, because if you like them, you don’t care, and if you don’t like them, then you SHOULDN’T care. I can’t believe the labels and stereotyping going on here, from both sides of the opinions on My Chemical Romance. There’s no need to argue about it all. Someone can like MCR, AND like the Misfits, David Bowie, The Beatles, The Stars, Eminem, Pink Floyd, Gym Class Heroes, Enya, Johnny Cash, Led Zeppelin, Elvis, Loreena McKennitt, Pearl Jam, The Rolling Stones, April Wine, Ray Charles, or ANY other band/musician, at the same time. I do. Amazing, isn’t it? If you don’t like something, keep it to yourself okay? Unless of course, your governmental leader is a dictator, in which case, feel free to speak up and start a military coup. I know this is off the topic of My Chemical Romance (whom I personally enjoy because of their music), but I just had to say something. The language on here was atrocious, and it was upsetting me. =P I have friends who like MCR (though not many), and friends who simply hate them. I don’t force my opinions or labels on others, and in return, those who don’t like MCR don’t force their opinions or labels on me. Just accept, people. Accept that people have different tastes in music, and it doesn’t mean they want to fit in, or stand out, or hurt themselves, or love themselves, or limit themselves to one brand of music, or anything. They like it. Or they dislike it. I was going to give you some valid information on the band, but there are some people on here who’ve done a good job on the facts, so I won’t repeat them. I basically just wrote a social commentary, when I should be doing homework. Don’t judge, don’t hate, either way.
My Chemical Romance is a band, with three albums released, originally from New Jersey, consisting of five members. Hate them or love them. Or be neutral. That's always fun.

an extreemely good band with members THAT ARE NOT FRICKING EMO. Go an check every interview they've had and the band has not once declared themselves, goth, punk or emo. Just because they dress a certain way doesn't mean there goth. Gerard just has a little obsession with death. Is that his fault? So what if I had an obsession with the colour pink? Does that make me a prep? No so To all the haters out there who are saying

If you actually listened to the songs you'd get the points that the band is trying to express instead of listening to pointless fucking songs like "Grillz" and "Do y'chain hang low?" or even "This is why i'm hot." (Now i'm not saying all other music is bad-even Gerard likes Justin Timberlake for example, i'm just making a point here) Those are the songs that fucking suck. My chemical romance expresses feelings of love, joy, yes they do pain too, but it's not:
"I FUCKING HATE MYSELF! AND I HATE YOU AND EVERYONE ELSE!!!-LETS ALL CUT OURSELVES AND RECITE POETRY WHILE WE BLISSFULLY DIE!!!!!"
Okay first of all Gerard started the band after the Sept 11 attacks. IT INFLUENCED HIS LIFE. Thats why he made the song "Skylines and Turnstiles". To the people out there who are like
"oomigod, look at him acting crazy in his videos!!!"
that just shows he's passionate and isn't afraid to show that he doesn't care if the world accepts him or not, but that he'll keep on living anyway the way he wants to! (Famous last words is kinda giving that message a bit) Gerard isn't emo, he shows other emotions besides hatred and anger. The band shops at Wal Mart to get action figures for crying out loud! They sleep on Teen Titan bunks-they can show happiness! Just to set things straight, Gerard dyed his hair blonde for the album-and the preps and haters need to stop worrying about how the band looks and

-try listening to the music. (some of the music is technically punk and emo (which is the most stupid genre name because it caused sooo many stereotypes) but the band likes to think of themselves as doing Alternative music) Instead of listening to a guy say he's hot over and over and then say

try listening to real music with meaning. (By the way that guy who says that is saying a double negative so the song doesn't even make sense) MyChemicalRomance doesn't deserve all this shit from people who never even gave them a chance. The band is just trying to make a difference in the world-big or small. the point is they're trying. MyChemicalRomance's songs are pleasant to the ear and also give a message. "Helena" and "Welcome to the black parade" aren't the only songs they've ever done. The band started out with a different sound and even when they suddenly changed the music was still good. Just for the record, the name "My Chemical Romance" was not just a name thought up when Gerard was in depression-it was inspired by a book called "Ecstacy: Three Tales of Chemical Romance" so there! Yes! Could it be the band can read instead of burn books!? Yes! So stop calling them emo. stop calling them goth. stop saying they suck when all of the main music out there is about sex, hot bods, drugs, and alchohal-cause y'know thats soooooooo cool. Just back off of Mychemicalromance-because i'm sick and tired of hearing about it when they didn't do anything to deserve this bullshit.

My Chemical Romance is a band that formed in 2001. They are an awesome band who arent emo. They actually care about their fans and They are anti suicide.

The band is led by Gerard Way, whos brother Mikey Way plays bass. Frank Iero, who used to be in Pencey Prep and is currently fronting Leathermouth is a rythmic guitarist and a pretty awesome psycho on too. Ray Toro, also known as "Fro-Boy" or the ToroNurse by some fans who love the Ghost of You video, is lead guitarist and Badass Bob Bryar is the drummer, who replace Matt Pellisier (sp?) in around 2004.

They are against homophobia, and they wanna save your life. So all of you haters that call MCR emo, they arent. Okay. Gerard gives speeches at concerts saying to never resort to violence to solve your problems, because honestly, it makes your issues worse.
They have been repeatidlt scapegoated by the Daily Mail (also known as the Daily Fail) for many adolescent suicides. But seriously, they arent the blame. These kids were bullied at school and people are just trying to find ways not to blame parents and the other schoolkids. MCR could have done nothing about this issue, but instead they addressed it peacefully, giving their condolences to the families.
Also, we fans are also called an "emo deathcult" well guess whhaaat? Labels are bullshit and we arent a deathcult. We are a fucking army.
