emo

short for emotional
the opposite of being emo-less

-they were traumitized as a kid
-they cut themselves to feel pain, because they were sheltered all their life
-they blow things out of proportion, to see if anything will happen
-they are too poor to afford nice shiny clothes so they wear cheap black clothes
-they like things they can relate to, its very hard to come by
-like music with "emotion" in it, not shallow music or slow paced helpless music
-the solitude makes them deep
-poser emo's are idiots that need to get shot on sight
-someone who stops being emo has a greater understanding of critical depressing situations, after they stop being emo they either become normal-or very active, or become emo-less, that actually don't care about most people

posers are scene kids, goth kids, punk kids, but if you want to make someone emo you just have to traumitize them and make them feel like shit, so they don't lose it and kill everyone including you then commit suicide, idiots at virginia tech -.o

the younger they are the greater the success rate

methods of causing traumitization are... stuff...

lue: that emo is a poser! he likes run kid run! what a fucking fag

slywaker: and he has tattoos, makeup, piercings, 80 dollar clothes.. what the hell is wrong with this fool

lue: slay him!

(headstrong by trapt would be typical emo music, 80 dollars is a whole lots, goodwill for the win)

emo

A label coined by the media to define a new soft core punk rock tendency and its followers. Even when false, it is nowadays used to define a new teenage generation with dense emotional interface. Very soon they found themselves antagonized and unaccepted by many groups and creeds. A curious phenomenon given the fact that they are mostly concerned with their own matters and pose no threat to anyone else.

Much like the hippies in the sixties, who also suffered heavy discrimination despites their peaceful and non-violent tendency, emos have borrowed only more notoriety from the criticism and developed into a modern era phenomenon.

Josh: People in school are saying Peter is emo...
Gary: Thats so gay.
Josh: Tell me about it. Did you buy tickets for the next show of Monstertruck Madness?
Gary: Sure did. I never miss the chance to see fuel burning and metal grinding.
Josh: Now THATS something manly... poor Peter.
Gary: ... poor Peter.

emo

Someone who is very emotional. They dress however they want to dress, and they don't always slit their wrists and want to shoot themselves. A lot of emo people just write poetry to deal with life. And just to make a note, emos are not posers. You don't choose to be emo. Emo chooses you. In my opinion, the emo haters need to get to know emo kids before trashing them.

It's also a genre of music.

I am emo, and I don't slit my wrists or want to kill myself. I write poetry to deal with the crappy hand life has dealt me.

emo

Emo is basically the bastard child of the Nu wave movement from the 80's, but worse. Emo kids tend to be depressed and annoying (not always mind you, there are all way exceptions). Most are cowards and will not fight their own fights but rather gather as many of their freinds as possiable to jump one person. They wear tight sweaters, girls jeans and converses. Recently they have taken to wearing bandana around their necks and faces. Oddly enough the Emo girls tend to look more like boys and the boys like girls.

Dude, those emo kids dress like fags.

emo

The modern concept of "emo" was invented by bands such as My Chemical Romance. Fans (usually teenagers and people in their early 20's) of their music moulded themselves to fit the stereotype of a miserable, self-harming, depression lover. They dress in the outfits of the bandmembers they like, usually including clothing like black skinny jeans, scribbled-on converse all-stars, band t-shirts, black-rimmed glasses (even though most dont actually need to wear glasses) and conforming "cover-one-eye" dyed black haircuts.

Key differences between emos and people with genuine mood disorders (eg, clincal depression, dysthymia, bipolar disorder etc) is that they enjoy being depressed, they enjoy having the status of being a self-harmer because they want to fit in with the emo group.

For example, often it is the case that emos post images of their scars and even give other emos advice on how to self harm. Genuine depressives do not want to be miserable; they acknowledge how their lives have been damaged and would genuinely try anything not to have depression, even if it meant covering up their mental health problem in order to have a life.

Genuine self-harmers often cover their scars and most of the time they are only ever found out by mistake.

To emos, being depressed is something they like being because it lets them fit in with the emo crowd.

Q1:Why did you cut yourself?
Emo:I went on this cool site and the people on it said that if you're having a bad day cutting helps. Plus all my friends do it anyway.
A person with a geniune mental health problem:
I have no other way of dealing with my mh problems, I do it so I can get through them and live my life like everyone else does.
