Selective hearing

This can be defined as when a person only responds to specific instructions, words or sentences.

This mostly applies to toddlers and young children. Some children would ignore a call from an adult but would immediately respond when the adult offered them a treat

E.g selective hearing :
The boy only responds to"come and eat".

Selective hearing

Selective hearing refers to the way people only hear a part of what someone is saying — often, it's what they want or expect to hear — and miss out on the rest.

This tends to cause conflict, riffs and miscommunication in relationships.

It is also very annoying and RUDE.

Sophie Hawker 's selective hearing makes holding a conversation with her a time job.

selective bless-you

When someone dislikes another individual in the workplace or elsewhere and decides to issue a "bless you" to everyone but that person when he or she sneezes, indicating a lack of worthiness and respectability.

"I don't think Jenna likes me anymore."
"Why not?"
"She gave the selective bless-you to everyone who sneezed in the office today but me, even though I sneezed three different times."
"Oh, that sucks."
