Someone who has no religion.
Usually someone who bases his or her life on reason and evidence.
I contend that we are both atheist. I just belive in one fewer god than you do. When you understand why you dismiss all the other possible gods, you will understand why I dismiss yours. (based on Richard Dawkins)

People who deny the fact that some things simply cannot be explained through scientific observations and logical thinking. They deny the possibility that some things in this universe are beyond the understanding of humans. In other words, they do not believe that there is a God.
When a person who was paralysed for thier entire life suddenly gets healed when he/she get filled with the Holy Spirit, there is simply no scientific explanation to show for it. This is what we call Faith, and Faith can sometimes overflow human understanding. No, that person who was healed did not undergo a "rare coincidence," but rather a miracle as a rewarding example of his/her faith. However, some atheists would spend days, weeks, months, or even years trying to explain what had happened with science because they won't accept the fact that supernatural things do occur. (some of this borrowed from a Christian point of view)

A person who does not accept the existence of a greater being. However, there are some exceptions.
1. They believe in a creator, but not a creator as described in most religions.
2. They do not officially recognize or conform to a religion, nor deny the existence of a greater being. See agnostic.
Contrary to popular belief, most atheists do lead fun, happy, and fulfilling lives. This is because they do not need the idea of a god to feel satisfied in life. Also, a lot of them are not close-minded jerks to begin with, but some end up that way because of their constant harassment from people (usually Christians) being close-minded jerks themselves.

Maybe that's because the believers of the other religions DON'T WHINE ABOUT US! I can't tell you how many times I've been reminded of my damnation to come by a fundie asshole. I chose my beliefs because of my observations in life, and not from hate, and then Christians come and harass me! How the hell am I supposed to act then?

A person who simply does not believe in any higher power. Some people say we worship the devil, but this is not possible, because we do not believe in the devil. Some say it is an excuse to do wrong things or not to do good things. This is also a false statement. Some say that atheist hat Christians, actually, seeing the previous definitions, it's the Christians doing most of the hating. Some people say that it's just a bunch of kids going around trying to be cool. I don't think me being atheist makes me any cooler, seeing as I don't prance around school yelling "I'm atheist!" I'm pretty sure no one else does that either... We do not hate all religions, actually, my best friend is actually very religious. She is Part of Jehovah's Witness, which by the way is not a cult and no one should be judged in any way by their religion, non-religion, or beliefs unless of course they push it on other people. Then they aren't very nice people.
