Completely meaningless phrase which has gained mysterious global popularity. It means "Once, I..." or "I used to..." but is uglier and lazier. Similar to the equally meaningless "at the end of the day..." popularised by English soccer stars.

The day every school has school off, while our lady of lourdes has school in session. The day that a few students from our beloved Christopher Columbus high school gave us the priveledge of venerating their school idol by running through our lady of lourdes academy with nothing but a mask to cover their faces and little thongs to cover their pride.
I hope we see some guys streaking today. It is Columbus day.

An amazing punk-rock band that got taken over by teenie-boppers. It's one thing to start liking them since American Idiot. It's an entirely different thing if you are 12 and say "omfg greenday iz mii new fav band!!!!!!!1" when you just saw the Boulevard of Broken Dreams music video. Teenies ruined Green Day concerts. Ever since they've been coming, the band has had to end their shows early because the stupid 10-year olds have to go to bed at 11:00. Teenies ruined Green Day on all levels. Anyone who belives Green Day are sell-outs just 'cause teenies like them is an idiot. Green Day couldn't help that the stupid boppers went after their stuff 'cause it's THAT GOOD. True fans love Slappy, Kerplunk, Dookie, Insomniac, Nimrod, Warning, and Shenanigans as well.

1) A day spent smoking pot.
2) A phrase used in an episode of sesame street featuring bert and ernie. (if you look on the back cover of some editions of Dookie, you will see a hand holding up an ernie toy. This was removed from later editions for copyright reasons.)
3) A song by Green Day from their first album, about a day smoking pot. The noise at the begginning of the track is the sound of a bong. (although 1,039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hours is often referred to as the group's first album, this is not factually correct. Their first album was 39/Smooth, whereas 1,039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hours includes that album in its entirety as well as two complete EPs and a track from a previous compilation album.)
3) A band, who used to be part of the Bay Area punk scene in California and then became part of popular music culture.

Punk Rock band which regularly produces hit albums, upon each of which their old fans proudly pronounce Green Day "sellouts" and proclaim that their new fans are posers and wannabe punks, blissfully ignorant to the fact that they were pronounced the same by even earlier fans a few years back.
Ten years ago:
"Green Day used to be punk back when they did Kerplunk, before they sold out with Dookie."
Today:
"Green Day used to be punk back when they did Nimrod, before they sold out with American Idiot."
