a group of people who see things from a unique point of veiw. often outcast from society at an early age for some stupid reason kids think of in the schoolyard. these 'outcasts' usaully come together to find common ground with each other and become good frinds. they have a laugh the whole time and enjoy life more than most people. their outside look on the people who try to be popular allow them to see the pointlessness of teenage society. goths cannot be defined by what they wear and how they act around the 'popular' as looks can be decieving. most goths do not even wear gothic cloths as popularised on tv. goths understand life better than most people and are better off for being that way.

Goth: just another one of those words people stereotypically use as an insult.

The are just the urban defenitions, the word goth has more definitions (example: gothic cathedral etc.)
..Not too sure if the word chav has more than one meaning

i think that people are really unfair to goths because they judge them and say well if your a goth then you must cut yourself and like black everything, thats not true!!! it is very annoying that the same people who say they never sterio type probably sterio type goths and emo all the time. goths and emo's get beaten up everyday just for being who they are and expressing themselves!
example- ME!! i dont cut myself i dont wear black all the time every single day but sometimes whe i do strangers come up to me in the street and call me a goth!

Goth origonally was a term used to describe that of architecture, clothing, music, and culture from the Gothic Era, a sub-devision of the Mideval Era.
Goth is now percieved as a labeled group of kids who dress in black, write depressive poetry, and hate the world. However, this is untrue. Goths are generally not depressive. They dress however they like, and believe that nobody is here for a reason. They believe in just living, and they see no point in popularity. Being goth is all about individuality, and you do not have to dress a certain way to be a goth. They generally listen to classical, industrial, metal, or soft rock. But that is not to say they have to listen to these forms of music.

Of course, the Goths were a medieval tribe who sacked Rome. They are also a subculture full of morons who decide one day that they like "dark" things in order to fit in.
Now, to address the issue of so-called "intelligent, true nonconformists interested in the dark side of things": if they were truly interested in individuality and free thought, they wouldn't categorize themselves in a subculture and confine themself to that definition. Nor is it acceptable to say that there are MANY DIFFERENT KINDS OF GOTHS OMG. If you're comfortable in your person and in your views and beliefs, you probably won't be calling yourself a goth in the first place, nor being accused of being one. Therefore there isn't really much of a need to even haughtily deny in between puffs of clove cigarettes, "I'm NOT a goth!"

many people associate goths as "devil worshippers" or suicidal or just plain weird!
this definition however is not tru at all. Goths are individuals, they are normally very clever, artistic and hav a fun wild side to them.
They do not dress to scare people, wiv their black make up or white faces, they dress like this because it's them and that's just their style.They dont care what other people think of them and frown on the people who look down on the way they dress.
Goths are smart and dont giv a damn bout the criticism they get frm the so called "popular" people.

Goths are free minded, choosing to think and act out of the "norm". Many are very inteligent, having an open mind to anything new. They also may be very artistic and possibly more well-mannered than most people.
Wannabe goths tend to dress in all black, as is the popular culture of goth, but do not have as open of a mind. They tend to be very easily angered by anything said against gothic culture, and have little to no manners, in their own homes or anywhere else.
Both gaths and wannabe goths, though, tend to believe that they are more inteligent than others, and are better than others because they decide to dress out of the "norm". A true goth does not need the contsant make up of black, hair died, boots, trench coats, chains, or any of the many other styles there are. They dress how they want, wether that be a mix of the norm and their own style or an entirely new one.
