Basically a hipster but the pretense is not directed towards single-origin coffee or obscure music, but towards "geeky" shit. A lot of the promoters of this stem from corporate cynicism that is thinly disguised by using attractive front-runners like Felicia Day and moderately annoying douchebags like Wil Wheaton. You can tell because geek chic is all these people are - it's a brand and they are wearing it to market it to you. Typically these people have nothing interesting about them at all, but will nevertheless try to force you to think they are cool or interesting by how many tabletop board games, RPGs, and Magic the Gathering cards they have.
They told us "nerd blackface" wasn't okay to say anymore so they re-branded it as geek chic.
the main chic : 1) a female of highly regarded ability, power, or influence within an industry or profession.
2) an actress who stands out among many within acting auditions or when casting for a role. She has an "it" factor in her presence and handling of a role that just can't be denied.

Fashionable chaos. Think: looks that don't make sense but kind of look good together. Feathers and leather, camo pants and a blazer, a gown with sneakers.

The fashion you see at tech companies. It's not business casual, it's not tech casual, it's tech chic. To be fashionably casual. Look like you're not trying too hard, but you probably did try pretty hard.
