a physical sign recognizing that an awkward moment has occured, or warning that a supremely awkward moment may occur if you don't watch out. an awkward tent is made by raising both arms above the head, elbows bent and fingertips touching, forming a "tent" above you. once the awkward tent is made, it has been acknowledged that an awkward moment has indeed occured, and everyone in the room can get on with whatever they were doing.
"Guys, is it weird to get festering red hives. . . down there?" asked Polly, loudly and to the entire dinner table.
Everyone put up their awkward tents.

A long period of time in which no one speaks because something has been said that either 1.) ended the conversation 2.) something odd, morbid, surprising, ect. has been said 3.) inturupted the converation resulting in loss of topic. Usually followed by small talk.
1.) My class was having a discussion on the book We're reading, and when the teacher didn't have anything to say, John yelled out, "Awkward Silence...!"
2.) When John told Jake to f*** off, there was a long awkward silence between the two of us.
3.) I was talking to John, and when his friend called him into the other room, their was an awkward silence between my other friend because we didn't know what to talk about.

In the middle of a party, if an awkward situation arises, lie on the floor and thrash around for a few seconds. It should soon make it obvious that you are finding something a bit awkward.

A piece of excrement -
1. Generally large in size, or of an odd consistancy. Not being able to flush away your waste, or having to strain to even expel it, points to it being an awkward soldier.
2. Also used as an indirect insult, to someone who is hard to get rid of.
1. When Tommy finally came out of the bathroom, everything pointed towards an awkward soldier.
2. I'm not saying Jake shouldn't come round AT ALL, but he's a fucking awkward soldier.
