God

The mythical place where we put all questions for which we do not yet know answers.

As soon as a better explanation comes along, we take it from Him/Her/It and give it to the better answer (usually science).

Before the discovery of sperm and egg cells: Where do babies come from? God.
Before the discovery of germs and modern hygiene: Where does disease come from? God.
Before the discovery of electrons: Where does lightning come from? God.
Before the discovery of nuclear energy: Where does sunlight come from? God.
Before the discovery of the Bic lighter: Where does fire come from? God.
Before the discovery that selfish assholes are running things: Why is there war and famine? God.

God

It seems like most of the definitions of God on this website are negative. That is because none of the people who wrote those definitions know who God really is. Whenever they have a problem, they blame God. They see God as a self-centered being who does not care about the troubles of us, His children. That is because truly knowing God is actually quite difficult. So, a vast majority of people quit on God - God does not quit on them. And since a big chunk of the population does not believe in God, then all of their trend-following friends follow along in hating God for whatever foolish, selfish reasons. The truth is God is real. God is more than we will ever be able to understand of fathom, for that matter. For this reason, most people don't believe in God. "No being can be that amazingly awesome and cool!" they proclaim. However, He is! He is the Creator of the universe and everything in it. He has no beginning and no end. He is the King of all. Whether you want Him in your life or not, He's there because He loves you. He loves you because He is love. He loves all, even you - even if you hate Him or you don't believe that He is there. God is everywhere at once, and He is everything you will ever need. You can listen to my words of reason and truth, or continue in your ways. If you reject these words, you will, stand at the gates of Hell, and you will repent. You will be sorry. You may not want to follow and have faith in God. You may say, "I'll have fun here on Earth, and pay for it later." Well, to have fun for a few decades is not worth feeling the farthest emotion from fun for eons - for eternity in Hell. And, face it, if you become a true follower of Christ and a true servant - it won't hurt in the long run. You might as well do something with your small blink of an existance here on Earth. If you follow God with all your strength, soul, and mind, you will stand in front of the gates of Heaven and be ever thankful.

Thought you might enjoy this interesting prayer given in Kansas at the opening session of their Senate. It seems prayer still upsets some people.
When Minister Joe Wright was asked to open the new session of the Kansas Senate, everyone was expecting the usual generalities, but this is what they heard:
"Heavenly Father, we come before you today to ask your forgiveness and to seek your direction and guidance.
We know Your Word says, 'Woe to those who call evil good,' but that is exactly what we have done. We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and reversed our values.
We have exploited the poor and called it the lottery.
We have rewarded laziness and called it welfare.
We have killed our unborn and called it choice.
We have shot abortionists and called it justifiable.
We have neglected to discipline our children and called it building self-esteem.
We have abused power and called it politics.
We have coveted our neighbor's possessions and called it ambition.
We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called it freedom of speech and _expression.
We have ridiculed the time-honored values of our forefathers and called it enlightenment.
Search us, Oh, God, and know our hearts today; cleanse us from every sin and set us free. Amen!"
The response was immediate. A number of legislators walked out during the prayer in protest. In 6 short weeks, Central Christian Church, where Rev. Wright is pastor, logged more than 5,000 phone calls with only 47 of those calls responding negatively. The church is now receiving international requests for copies of this prayer from India Africa and Korea .
Commentator Paul Harvey aired this prayer on his radio program, "The Rest of the Story," and received a larger response to this program than any other he has ever aired.
With the Lord's help, may this prayer sweep over our nation and wholeheartedly become our desire so that we again can be called "one nation under God."
If possible, please pass this prayer on to your friends. "If you don't stand for something, you will fall for anything."
Think about this: If you forward this prayer to everyone on your email list, or trenchmate list in less than 30 days it would be heard by the world. How many people in your address book will not receive this prayer....do you have the guts to pass it on? I just did

Jim: Hey Pastor, what is God?
Pastor: Ummmm, an all powerful being?
Jim: Nope, it's dog spelled backwards!
Pastor: DEVIL WORSHIPPER!
*Shoots Jim in the face*
Pastor: You just got pwned BITCH!

God

An impossible self contradiction.

1.To be GOD, an entity must be an ontological person that is infinite in scope.

2.To be an ontological person is to have a specific identity.

3.To have a specific identity is to necessarily be finite.

4. Any theistic or deistic notion of God has a specific identity.

5. Any theistic or deistic notion of God therefore is necessarily finite and cannot be infinite.

6.By modus tollens from 1 and 5, any theistic or deistic notion of God cannot be GOD as it cannot both be infinite and finite.

god

Creator and Lord of all, is often ripped on by 2/3 of the civilised world because they think that being ultimately accountable for their own actions mustn't be a good thing and it's a good safeguard to not believe cos you want to do what you want (e.g. get incredibly drunk, have sex with this girl/boy, take drugs)

Gives free choice yet is often criticised because the fact he knows everything "is proof that we don't have free choice". Right, so cos someone knows what you will do doesn't mean that you can't do something else.

Often treated as a mechanical concept rather than a being with choice.

Is not an argument against the earth being older than 6000 years, original translation of "day" comes from a word meaning "period of time". Could be an age

Portayed as an angry bearded man in the sky just waiting to make you burn in hell as opposed to a friend that loves you and sent his son to die so you are not held accountable to all the bad things everyone has done (and everyone has done bad things, whether they meant it or not)

Often criticised about people "not being a free thinker if they submit to a deity". Many people love to sound clever if they diss God, it gives them a sense of 'individuality' as they do what too many other people are doing (oh and they also read the da vinci code, a popular yet poorly written fiction book. Good story, but as I said, FICTION)

Often said can't exist because of all the people doing evil things in his(or her, or whatever, doesn't really have a gender) name. The bit in the bible about false prophets completely ignored

Even clever people and scientists believed in God, for example:
Isaac Newton
Albert Einstein
CS Lewis

Even Robert Winston is a practicing Jew!

And last but not least, a faithful, loving friend :)
Has enriched many a person's life and worked wonders in the world (read "the cross and the switchblade" for an example)

"For God loved the world so much, he gave his only son to die so that you may not perish but be given eternal life"

"If people do bad things in my name does that mean I don't exist?"

God created people with a choice. That is, to love him or to not love him. Many people choose not to. But tell me, if God made people to love him robotically instead of making it so they could choose to love him, would that be real love?
