E Grade

When you do an exam and you get an E it's better than an A* because it reminds you of someone special

Jack got an A* on this first exam and was sad because of reasons, but when he got an E grade it lighted up his world

Grade grinding

Grade grinding is a term used to define the act of studying for excruciatingly long periods for the purpose of getting a small increase in marks for any assessment/exam, etc.

Often means foregoing eating, socializing, and sleeping for the tiny incremental increase in grade.

Frequently requires the remembering of menial things such as dates, numbers, etc.

John: What were you doing last night? I tried contacting you, but your phone was off.
David: Sorry, I was up grade grinding till 3am. I've got a damn calculus test today and I've got 14 formulae to have memorized.

Eighth-Grade Syndrome

When someone around the age of 12-15 get engrossed into one topic such as a TV show or video game, and believes they are a part of it in the form of a Character or possessing the powers from the show or video game. In other cases, influences from shows or video games may not even be a cause.

Surprisingly, this is a quite serious phenomenon that happens in real life, and not just something that appears in the show β€œChuunibyou Demo Koi Ga Shitai” as where it is most commonly known.

Symptoms may range from full-on costume wearing with quotes used within their everyday conversations, from acting completely normal with only them believing in themselves having some sort of power.

A common example of a subtle version of this syndrome would be kids having thoughts such as β€œI’m smarter than anyone” or β€œNo one can understand my thoughts, It’s too complicated”.

β€œUgh, that kid has Eighth-Grade Syndrome. He must think he’s so cool, when in reality he’s just pure cringe.”
