Emo is short for emotive hardcore, not emotional.
Bands like My Chemical Romance, Fall Out Boy and Panic! At The Disco are not emo and emos need to know this. They're pretty good bands, I listen to them all the time...BUT they're not emo. I hate to have to give in to conformity and say that I am emo but personally, if I were being told about this kind of stuff by someone who wasn't emo, and didn't have the experience of participation, then I would find it hard to believe them. I don't cut, I don't cry all the time, I don't sit around feeling sorry for myself. I normally go out whenever I can and get totally drunk and enjoy myself. Emo is not about following the apparent stereotypes of the mainstream audience, it's about expressing the way you look and act through the emotive hardcore music scene. 1. An slang adjective, or noun, describing a person who is emotional.
2. An adjective describing a culture of people who frequently wear somewhat long hair, dark clothes, dark makeup, and guys who wear girl-style pants. Emo's sometimes (but not always) cut themselves, as a way to relieve depression.
3. An adjective for a diverse style of rock music usually containing emotional lyrics.
Person 1: "Dude was that a goth?"
Person 2: "No, they're an emo"
Person 1: "How can you tell?"
Person 2: "They had a hoodie on, and they weren't headbanging to metal"

someone who is different and doesn't give a f**k and they want to express it to everyone, they like screamo bands, which can now be infused with rap (examples of this on youtube) they also like real hardcore rock, they dress in bright colours to stand out, they want to show a darker side of themselves by colouring their hair with a black base and wearing black band t-shirts of more hardcore rock groups, they are pretty nice people once you get to know them, usually if someone is an emo society has driven them to it.
Emo girl's usually look innocent but threatening, and Emo guys usually look stick thin and depressed.
Most emo's are usually bi or bi-curious.

The plural form of emo. AKA group of (noramally) young whiny kids who are a product of 80's punk and goth REJECTION and created a social movement knows as the rejects.

emos dont always cut themselves as many people think or are depressed some emos are really fun. Mostly have cool hair and wear skinny jeans with band t shirts.
