wikipedia snowball

Like a snowball rolling down a mountain, growing ever larger as it continues toward the bottom, a wikipedia snowball occurs when one researches something on the wikipedia, only to then click link after link into subsequent articles of interest until, suddenly, several hours have passed.

"I'm sorry I'm late, I got caught in a wikipedia snowball. I was looking for information on the new James Bond movie and suddenly four hours had passed. On the bright side, now I know what happens in Marvel Zombies, I can tell you how astronomers gauge the temperature of stars, and why World War I started."

'You're still fired.'

"Fuck."

Wikipedia Law

When someone believes anything and everything that is within a Wikipedia article pertaining to a certain subject. Commonly done by high school students who paraphrase such articles then receive a bad grade on their paper because the teacher disproved what they stated.

"My teacher gave me a D on my paper because the figure wasn't actually dead yet! It said so on Wikipedia though!"
"Fool, stop holding to Wikipedia Law."

Hitler Wikipedia Game

A game with the object of reaching Hitler's Wikipedia page by clicking on "Random Article", then clicking links in that article to get to other articles, until eventually you can find a link to Adolf Hitler's page. There are rules against using the "find on this page" option in your browser, and there is sometimes a time limit on how long you can spend on each page. Your score is determined by your number of clicks before clicking on Hitler's page. If you reach Hitler's page by clicking on "Random Article", you win the game forever and are probably Jesus.

me: Yo, this computer class is so boring, lets play that Hitler Wikipedia game.
you: okay...*click*...OH MY GOD HITLERS PAGE CAME UP WHEN I CLICKED RANDOM ARTICLE!!!
me: HOLY JESUS!!!!!!!!!

six degrees of wikipedia

The theory that any two subjects on the wikipedia are connected in some way by clicking on the links of the articles.

An example of the six degrees of wikipedia would be something like going from Kevin Bacon to Entertainment Weekly to Sean Connery etc, etc.

Generally used as a noun

wikipedia is your friend

A way to admonish a person who derails an Internet conversation by demanding the definition for commonly used words or phrases instead of taking a minute or two to simply look it up on Wikipedia.

"Last night I was playing WoW with some friends and these two Undead Rogues came out of nowhere and ganked me."
"What the hell is WoW and what is ganking?"
"WoW = World of Warcraft, ganking = player killing. Wikipedia is your friend, dude."
