Factory Pretty or Factory Handsome applies when the competition for beauty is narrowed down to the environment one works in, or frequents on a daily basis.
If one would be considered factory pretty, or factory handsome in the narrow enviroment they might not be so in a larger forum. The competition increases as the pond grows bigger.

Pretty for a northern girl, with her features possibly obscured by a large down coat. A northern girl who is pretty, but you can't be too certain of it.
Being in Austin it was easy. But now that I'm in Lansing, I don't see anything but Michigan pretty - and, Man, that's risky!
