the symbol * means you are correcting the word you got wrong last time.
For example:
"Hey, I tgink I should go!", but you then notice that you spelled 'think' wrong. Then you would send "*think". Which means you are correcting it.
Used by weird anime kids to show some action OR when you screwed up spelling at a noticeable level while texting your crush and try to back up and correct it last minute before your crush reads it.
