allyship fatigue

The feeling of intense exhaustion you get after posting a black square on your instagram and calling it a day. Also applies to a picture of a rainbow in June.

Person 1: Hey you able to go to the protest tonight?
Person 2: Nah I'm exhausted after a hard day of activism, my black square got 200k likes!
Person 1: Curse you, allyship fatigue!

Hype Fatigue

On the 45th episode of the Trash Taste Podcast (hosted by Connor "CDawgVA" Colquhoun, Joey "TheAnimeMan" Bizinger, and Garnt "Gigguk" Maneetapho), Gigguk describes his chronic condition of being indifferent when a highly-anticipated game (that he intensively follows for an extended period of time) is released. This leads him to coin a new term: "hype fatigue."

Attempt at a formal definition: when one's hopes and expectations in a game, show, or etc. transitions from a fanatic following into abject indifference when the final product is finally released.

Casual definition: getting so hyped that you eventually tucker yourself out and can no longer hype

"Cyberpunk2077 is coming out in 2 months! The development seems to be going well. I can't wait!"

(two months later) "Release date has been pushed back for another month. That's alright."

(one month later) "Another month. This game is gonna be sooooo good!"

(four months later) "... The game released. But I kinda want to play something else. Hype Fatigue is a bitch."

Bacon Fatigue

A disdain for all things bacon-related, including but not limited to bacon festivals, foods wrapped in bacon, topped with bacon, etc. Refers specifically to hipster-originating bacon items; one may still enjoy bacon but one may not tweet/FB/IG evidence.

Ex. 1

Hipster: "Let's go to Coachella and eat chocolate-covered bacon ice cream!"
Other Hipster: "Yeah, that sounds dope."

Ex. 2

Before exploding in media popularity ca. 2011, bacon used to be enjoyable. Now I have bacon fatigue. Take back breakfast.

ikea fatigue

The inevitable feeling of sensory overload and exhaustion you feel as you approach a checkout line in Ikea.

After looking around at all the cool design-y stuff, you realize that your eyes hurt, your feet hurt and you feel overwhelmingly tired and full of Ikea Fatigue.

outrage fatigue

noun. outrage fatigue. the exhaustion and entropy that occurs from too much outrage. Occurs in waves, often during peak election cycles. Outrage fatigue tends to afflict politically active people, and can be worse when your party is not in power, or has a power deficit. It escalates during environmental catastrophes, especially ones that are caused by human negligence. It also develops during troublesome economic times like corporate bailouts and high unemployment. Outrage fatigue may threaten close friendships.

After the week of union protests in Madison, I'm finished. I have serious "outrage fatigue".

When I heard about the latest military intervention in Libya, I was stunned by my apathy, lack of concern and disinterest. This is my worst ever episode of "outrage fatigue".

flavor fatigue

the feeling of boredom one experiences after eating some percentage of a (usually) large portion of food that has pushed their taste buds to the limits of tolerance for the same food. flavor fatigue can be embarrassing because one may have been excited to eat their favorite pasta, but halfway through their meal has become bored with the flavor and wishes he or she did not have such a large amount of leftover food.

After eating through half of his massive cheeseburger, the boy became afflicted with flavor fatigue and wished he had simply ordered some chicken fingers instead.
