formal sex

The opposite of casual sex.

"Save-the-Date" cards are sent, followed by printed invitations requiring an RSVP. There is an unspoken dress and undress code. Invitees are expected to be well-mannered, witty, and clean. Afterwards, a small note of appreciation is well received.

An evening of formal sex was always something to look forward to, a reason to go shopping in the preceding weeks, to attend to hair, nails, makeup. And in the following days, to lightly mention in passing, a source of envy amongst friends.

rainbow formal

Rainbow formal is a dress code similar to black tie, where the attendees to the event (normally a ball or awards ceremony) are required to not wear the usual white shirt, with black tie, jacket and trousers and instead dress like a idiot in their stupid coloured jackets and shirts, while still trying to stop people turning up in jeans and a t shirt, or anything that doesn't look stupid.

"we organised an event and eschewed the usual black tie, instead choosing to dress like a bunch of tosspots in 'rainbow formal', while remaining smug and snobby by avoiding casual dress."

Formal Fridays

Due to the popularity of shows like Mad Men, games like L.A. Noire and a resurgence of overall classiness, and in part a rebellion against the hip-hop, grunge, "swag" culture of many high schoolers, Formal Fridays are a day for 20-somes and college students to dress in more formal attire, listen to big band and jazz music and sip straight liquor on the rocks.

Can't wait to wear this new skinny tie on Formal Fridays at the bar.
