Ghosted

To ghost on someone: To disappear into the shadows or the crowd, to simply slide away unnoticed so that when whoever you're with turns their head around, you're long gone. Good for ditching unwanted company; Bums, Narcs, obnoxious acquaintances. Often involves using shadows, corners and roofs to speed your exit.

Damn, that boy just ghosted! He was here two seconds ago.

Ghosted

verb, ghost-ed
1. To have your bedroom become decorated with kleenex stye-ghosts, office-ghosts, snowmen-ghosts or other ghosts of varying thematics.
2. To be honored mischieviously while bedroom has been left unoccupied
3. To have a current condition or obsession be highlighted by craft ghosts

From the Old English gast meaning "soul, spirit, life, breath,"
(cf. O.S. gest, O.Fris. jest, M.Du. gheest, Ger. Geist "spirit, ghost"), from PIE base *ghois- "to be excited, frightened" (cf. Skt. hedah "wrath;" Avestan zaesha- "horrible, frightful;" Goth. usgaisjan, O.E. gæstan "to frighten"). This was the usual W.Gmc. word for "supernatural being," and the primary sense seems to have been connected to the idea of "to wound, tear, pull to pieces."

Becca, you are SO getting ghosted when you go to work tonight!

Guys, lets stye-ghost Allison.

That was such a good prank, better than the ghosts!

Lets put this Dwight ghost on her door so when she opens it it jumps in her face!

Ghosting

Ghosting is an online term that can have at least two meanings

First:
Ghosting can mean the viewing of a stream/streamer for the purpose of gaining information that could be used to gain an advantage against them (no matter if they're a team or an individual)

Second:
Ghosting can mean the shutdown/ceasing of communication with someone without notice. This can include but doesn't always require the closing or shutting down of social media accounts or ports of contact such as email addresses or phone numbers.

First Example - In an esports tournament watching a stream of the game you/your team are playing for to gain an unfair advantage over the enemy. Thus you have ghosted the enemy.

Second Example - When you do not wish to continue a friendship or relationship with someone you might decide to cease all communication with them. Ghosting them.

Ghosting

The act of suddenly ceasing all communication with someone the subject is dating, but no longer wishes to date. This is done in hopes that the ghostee will just "get the hint" and leave the subject alone, as opposed to the subject simply telling them he/she is no longer interested. Ghosting is not specific to a certain gender and is closely related to the subject's maturity and communication skills. Many attempt to justify ghosting as a way to cease dating the ghostee without hurting their feelings, but it in fact proves the subject is thinking more of themselves, as ghosting often creates more confusion for the ghostee than if the subject kindly stated how he/she feels.

Carmen: How was your second date with Kyle?
Beth: I thought it went well, but I've texted him a couple of times since then and he's been ghosting me.
Carmen: What? I thought he was more mature than that.

Ghosting

When someone ignores your text, email, or other message on one platform while they received it and are online and active and on another with the intent of you not knowing it. This applies to anyone not solely someone you were dating. Seeing a read receipt in a text but getting a 'snap' from them the same hour. Getting a Facebook like or IG like after they ignored your text. Seeing them update their status or online on FB messenger without responding. The act of them avoiding you in their most direct form of communication while they are still active on less direct forms.

You liked my post on IG but you won't text me back...? Why you ghosting me?
