Stan is when you combine "stalk" and "fan". While you may not actually stalk, it does mean you are obsessed with a brand, celebrity, show, topic, etc.

Stan as many people know is a character in Eminem's popular song Stan. Because the character was so obsessive the name can be used as an adjective. You could call somebody a "stan" if you think they are obsessive of someone or something. One good exampe would be in the song Ether by Nas.

If you stan a musician or celebrity you're a big fan. A person like that is also called Stan. "To stan" is the verb for being a Stan. You're obsessed witha certain celebrity and like them very much. You know almost everything about them and give other fans (who are not stans) information or help them because you know more than the maority of the fandom.

It is also used to simply say that you really like an artist.

There are two different kinds of stans, soft stans and hard stans

- "Do you know EXO?"
- "Yes, I stan them."

- "I stan 24K."

-"You have to stan VIXX! They're the most talented group ever!"

Usually the word is used in a way that is not offensive to explain that someone is a dedicated fan or that you are telling someone to be a fan.

Typically stans can be found on any social media site, but especially on twitter. Stans on Twitter are collectively known as, you may have guessed it, stan Twitter.

Can be used as a noun or a verb.

“Do you stan Stray Kids?”
“Yes, I am a Stray Kids stan.”
or
“Stan loona!”
