*Probably obsessed with the current show they're in
*Loves the spotlight to a fault

Girl 2: Yeah she just started singing out of nowhere...
Girl 1: Oh, she's one of those theatre kids.

1) A proud few who dwell in the bowels of their high school auditorium and survive off of stale bagels and way too many tacos from Jack in the Box.
2) People who realize the correct spelling of the word "theatre when referring to the Theatrical arts.
1) Did you see Josh? He is a total Theatre Geek! He can't hang out with us because he is always at rehearsal!
2) After Elle cussed out the newspaper editor for misspelling "theatre" everyone believes her when she says she is a Theatre Geek!

A theatre kid is much like a "drama kid", the only difference being that theatre kids are the EXTREME version of a "drama kid". They are the kids who can never watch a movie/play/tv show without picking out EXACTLY which role they would play, along with all the roles their friends would play as well. They are the ones that get PISSED when "theatre" is spelled "theater". You will usually find a Theatre Kid in their schools drama/choir rooms at school, with their fellow theatre friends. (it's a VERY tight pack they run in, only to be challenged by the coveted "Band Kid" group) working on audition monologues or competition pieces. There are 3 versions of a Theatre kid:
1. Musical Theatre Kid- These are the ones who have more showtunes on their ipods than regular music.They are the ones that idolize Broadway stars instead of MTV stars. They spend hours on YouTube looking up bootleg videos of their favorite Broadway Shows. These are the kids who cannot listen to a song without choreographing a number to it in their heads. They can also be found making up harmonies to various Broadway showtunes with their friends.
2. Straight Theatre Kid- There is only a VERY slight difference between the Straight Theatre Kid and the Musical Theatre Kid. The Straight Theatre Kid is much more focused on acting, where as the Musical Theatre kid thinks more of singing and dancing. A Straight Theatre kid is quite a snob about acting. They love Broadway shows just as much, but will only audition for Musicals if there is a strong acting part. No fluff roles for these kids.
3. A Mixture Of Both- a fierce breed. Let's just say, these kids are bound for fame, because if you are truely an all around Theatre Kid, your life is completely consumed with nothing but fine arts. FIERCE! :

That awful empty sinking feeling inside when a play you were in is over and you know it'll be really hard to see anyone from the cast outside of the show. Also applies when it's the last show of the year and the seniors are graduating soon.
Common symptoms also include desire to cry, denial, and musical numbers or lines popping into your head at random times.
Common treatments include indulging in junk food and seeking the next opportunity to be in a play so you can set yourself up for more withdrawal later.
*cries* I just got back from the Rent cast party, and now I'm going through such awful theatre withdrawal! Where's the chocolate and the latest issue of Variety?

A theatre geek is a person who is in theatre, knows everything about theatre, and is one of the most awesome kinds of people to live.

A theatre nerd is a person who is highly invested in musicals, sometimes to the extent that it’s an addiction. Theatre nerds are usually in all of the drama-related clubs at their school.
You may be a theatre nerd if you have any of the following symptoms:
• You sing showtunes Non-Stop
• You understood the reference above
• Tap dancing is not an uncommon occurrence for you
• You have overdramatic reactions to everything
• You will change in front of anyone
• Alexander Hamilton was not just a Founding Father to you
• Anything anyone says can trigger a song getting stuck in your head
• You unconsciously switch accents while talking
Theatre nerds are part of a a big, cozy community of people who are probably a bit too affectionate with each other at times, quote Shakespeare regularly, are very, VERY loud, and sometimes act like a cult.
Example 1
Kid 1: Look at those kids over there singing. What the heck are they doing?
Kid 2: Oh, those are just the theatre nerds. Don’t mind them.
Example 2
Kid 1: Omg have you heard the OBC recording of Be More Chill?
Kid 2: Yes, it’s so great! I need to see that!
Kid 1: Ahhh bring me with you!
Kid 2: I totally will! Wow we are huge theatre nerds.
