A common state of mind in the helping professions in the United States, especially in institutional settings.
Lately, working in the prison, due primarily to the unfathomable paperwork, I am experiencing workplace despair about fifty percent of the time.
Despair Disease is a motive introduced in the third chapter of Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair. It's an endemic disease that is found on Jabberwock Island. According to Monokuma, there are extremely tiny insects that transmit the disease.In truth, it's a fictional disease that exists only in the Neo World Program's virtual version of the island. "The insects" appear to be just a story made up by Monokuma, who can cure and supposedly inflict the disease in a flash.

To be "on the train of despair" means to be single and in pursuit of someone to spend the day and/or night, without the intent of perusing a relationship with that person.
On Valentine's Day the only way to "get off the train" would be to find a date, to give up in the pursuit of finding a date or when the clock strikes midnight and you're all alone.
