A story about an already published work. Some are good, most are bad. See FanFiction.Net . In fanfiction...anything can happen, which is sometimes good, but mostly bad. -___-*
I had to sort through, like, fifty fan fics to find find some decent yaoi!

Fanfiction or fanfic is a story created by a fan who follows a book, movie, tv show, anime or other.
A fanfiction aims to continue a story that is unfinished or to set the caracters of a story in another plot. Mostly, tring to keep their personalities but sometimes they can be out of character (OOC) too.

another word for fan fiction.
aka a fictional story written by a fan about their favorite celebrity, band or athlete.
Most fan ficts often depict romance stories involving the author, band/celebrity and best friend in crazy fictional plots that usually ends up with the author in love with favorite celebrity and best friend in love with her favorite celebrity.
It's quite popular for the celebrity to save the fan in the story or vice versa, but even more popular for celebrities to meet and fall into love when meeting fan either on set of a movie or backstage at a concert.
When it comes to musicians, it's extremely popular for girls to write about their desires, such as being pulled on stage by their favorite band member, being escorted backstage and said band member to profess their love at first sight upon introduction.
Writing fanficts can actually add to the obsession many fangirls have, and once meeting the celebrities written about and seeing their fantasies do not play out as thought, many fans loose interest in said target for some time.
fanficts:"..Bethany flung herself out of the boat to save Joe from the ravishing sharks, but Kevin stopped her just as her foot hit the water. Her best friend Jolie feel into the ice cold water herself, grabbing Joe just before a great white shark grabbed them both. "you saved my life" he said. Jolie smiled, Bethany hugged Kevin. "I love you" professed Joe.

(noun)
An often written or illustrated creative work made by a dank fan of any entertainment or media. A fan-fiction or more commonly referred to as by us internet aristocrats' as a "fanfic", is typically a story using the characters and or world from the media the fanfic references.
Ciel reached to his left, pulling out an embellished hair comb from the gold plated chest of drawers next to his bedside. In a nearly half second, Elizabeth found the comb in her long golden hair, shining in the evening sunlight. As she reached to her ear, brushing aside the hair shyly Ciel brushed the side of her face with his hand whispering into her ear "Lizzy.. I-"
Just then the alarm rang and Ciel realized he had been up all night reading smut fanfiction. It was time to get Sebastian to make him his morning tea..

Stories (usually utter crap) that wannabe 11-year-old "writers" post on websites for literate people to cringe over. They are most often created so some idiotic girl wishing she was half-talented can talk herself into believing she's actually pretty good (to beat it all, people will actually READ and PRAISE her for it). Other times, they are made because: the girl can't come up with her own storyline or characters, so she copies and trashes the author's; she wants to see her favorite characters have sex so she will get extra views from full-time masturbators, or possibly she simply hates the readers and/or the author and wants to disgrace literature. The best-deemed fanfiction are a combination of all three.
Why do English teachers dislike fanfiction?
Because they're literate.

A fun pass time for anyone to partake in, fanfiction (often abbreviated into 'fanfic' or 'fic'). Various types of fanfiction include, but are not limited to…
•Oneshot (A fanfic that is one chapter long)
•Twoshot (A fanfic that is two chapters long)
•Threeshot (A fanfic that is three chapters long)
•Novel-length
•Short story
•Drabble (one-hundred or near words in length)
•Ficlet (shorter than a drabble, yet still relevant enough to be a story)
There are many more, but listing them all would take too long.
Many of them are written by illiterate idiots who don't bother to proofread or use a spell-check, and they often have many horrible stories. However, there are plenty of literate, believable, proofread fanfictions out there if you know where to look.
Almost any genre and scenario has been written at least once. And pairings are never-ending as well.
•Slash (MxM)
•Femmeslash/Femslash (FxF)
•Gen (No relationship, or it's not a big part)
•Het (MxF)
Those are types of pairings. Fanfiction can be an amazing thing if you know how and where to look for it. (Hint: archiveofourown.org AO3 is a great place with a great community. I wouldn't recommend FanFiction.net simply because of the lack of acknowledgement for new writers)
Happy reading!
Person One: Man, that Death Note fanfiction I read last night was awesome!
Person Two: What was it called? I want to check it out.
