When people mention the last thing they read in school as if it was obvious, and as if you'd have to be completely stupid not to know what they're talking about.
Also when people talk like they're giving a formal speech.

What people who are naturally smarter and better than others are often seen, mistakenly, as being. (Commonly attributed to British people, for obvious reasons).

Those fucking annoying people that act like their good at everything even though they dont know shit. They normally cant be proven wrong as they know everything, will try to order people about and walk all over you and act all high and mighty all the time.
They put on a show in public places and talk really loud in hope that it will draw attention to them and make people notice how "great" they are.
For guys they normally act "Big Man"
Girls tend to act liek they are super intelligent.

1. An overused, stale word that doesn't mean anything anymore, which is primarily used by critics and jerks to describe things or people they can't even begin to understand.
2. The most pathetic word one can possibly use in a verbal critique.
some guy: "Gawd, Radiohead is so PRETENTIOUS."
me: "Where'd you find that word?"
some guy: "Oh, there was this really great critic who used it in a review-"
me: "Do you even know what it means?"
some guy: "Uh..."
me: "If you don't know what it means, then why use it?"

adj. pompous, ostentatious, pretending, an extravagent outward show. I find pretentious a versatile word that can be used to describe anything from musicians (Thom Yorke), clothes (berets) and musical genres (beat poetry, acid jazz)
It is also a word that I over use
O Pretentious One- Thom Yorke is God!
Me- You are so pretentious
O Pretentious One- I like living in my studio apartment, wearing black clothes and a red beret whilst listening to beat poetry and acid jazz
