Someone with no moods or feelings, someone desperate not to be seen as soft-hearted/soft because that is exactly who they are deep down, and people that have known them their entire life know it even if most people including them don't.
The bubbly girl was a machine, and therefore only had a positive state of mind, a stupor to wander around in. Teasing and ridiculing anyone and anything for no good reason, acting tough all the time, and blurting out a bunch of bullshit took the place of feeling anything negative about anything or anyone, including her emotionally repressed, grown, and badass self (since it was everyone else that was an unfair hypocritical child at play in her mind).

The bubbly girl was always optimistic and positive because she had no other moods like relatable humans do (no negative thoughts would compute), she was an emotionally repressed machine keeping everyone and everything on lockdown all the time.
an analogy for holding too much baggage inside. when the repression suitcase has too many "clothes" inside it or stress, the suitcase will burst. it's important to unload your repression suitcase in an orderly manner to you don't break under the pressure of your trauma.
