Some people, modern day, who are true to the counterculture expression "Turn on, tune in, drop out", except Hippie 2.0s interpret it differently, (think different). They "turn on" to soft drugs, they "turn on" their computers, they "tune in" to the internet and its news, blogs, sites, and opinions, they drop out of school in pursuit of internet entrepreneurship (modern self-sufficiency). They live, renouncing material possession for minimalism. They embrace thrift and frugality, they purchase quality over quantity. Because Hippie 2.0s have few possessions, as they are burdens, they are mobile like their Hippie forefathers traveling the world (this time my plane). Globalization has made "needs" "relatively cheap", while "wants" are expensive, therefore a Hippie 2.0 needs little income, because his only expenses are "relatively cheap". Don't be fooled, a Hippie 2.0 is a true Hippie, just a modern day, pragmatic idealistic, incarnation.
If you've seen him, listen to his wisdom. Remember that guy from Highschool, he's a now Hippie 2.0.

1. Cornering a glass pipe full of marijuana by lighting only sections of the marijuana at a time. Therefore leaving the marijuana sectioned off with each new "rip". Thus, lighting the plant much like the selected slices of a pie chart.
"Don't burn all the crystals, hippie hit it. Just conserve"
"What do you mean?"
"Just corner it and then there will still be green hits left for everyone else"

I think that everyone is making too general of a look. Not all neo-hippies are like the trowback hippie. I think now more than ever it is about a state of mind/ a way of thinking. They whole idia that you need to pave your own path and not to just follow. IT also includes thinking outside the box(with but not exclusivly through the use of drugs such as LSD or marijuana)Paramount among their ideals would be that you need to be happy in life and not just do somthing because you will make more money. A great value on self happiness.
Neo-hippie 1-"Instead of working for money I am gonna work for enjoyment of working"
Neo-hippie 2-" What is it really that controls it it all, is it god?"

A derogatory name for hippies used predominantly by squares in the late 1960s and early 1970s.
Look at those stupid hippy dippy peacenik freaks with their girly long hair and flowery bell bottoms laughing at me and my pressed brown slacks, white shirt, polka dot bow tie and crew cut as I walk around campus distributing Nixon campaign pamphlets. Just wait until I inherit my daddy's insurance business and they come begging me for a job, we'll see who's laughing then.

To start both hippies and punks don't want to conform to the society. But hippies and punks mainly believe on the same aspects of government and social standings. Many things can differ to make up the "hippie punk". Punks belive in Anti-authoritarianism, Non-conformity, Anti-militarism, Anti-capitalism, Anti-nationalism, Environmentalism, Vegetarianism and animal rights. Hippies believe in Environmentalism, animal rights, Non-conformity and Anti-militarism (PEACE).With the "hippie punk" it is a cross between the more peaceful side of the hippie trying to get the more aggressive message of the punks out to the world and get something done about it.
The real issue behind the Punk movement is freedom of thought, or thinking for one's self. Non-conformity is then the result of a punk.
Hippies have similar ideas of thinking for themselves,Non-conformity and peace to get their message across.
Both being a punk and being a hippie is a state of mind and a "hippie punk" brings both of these minds together in a mix of both of the concepts.

Person 1: "Shit! I left my grinder at home."
Person 2: "Just hippie pick it, dude."
