The only thing gayer than Emo. Being straight edge is just an excuse for kids who are too pussy to try drugs or drink, or for kids who dont have any friends. What makes me laugh is these kids actually think their hard core " gangstas " with their wal-mart rags over their fat, pale nerd faces. People within the hardcore/punk culture that claim the straight edge abstain from drugs, drinking, irresponsible sex or sex without love, and often from eating meat, dairy, or both. Occasionally straight edgers will avoid caffeine. Straight edge is a movement credited to Ian MacKaye of 80s hardcore band Minor Threat, who penned the song Straight Edge. Many straight-edgers draw black X’s on their hands to signify their choice — an action that harks back to the late 1970s/early 1980s, when bouncers would draw black X’s on the hands of kids who were underage so that bartenders would know not to serve them alcohol.

Above it was mentioned that a lot of the girls in girls gone wild have X's on their hands. I would like to clarify that chances are those girls are not straight edge but sluts as one would expect. GGW gets most of their footage from bars. Bars that also allow 19 and 20 year olds in will often mark the back of the hands of people entering their bar to designate if they can drink or not.

straight edge is what you make it. it is your decision; your way of life. but basically it means no drugs, no drinking, no casual sex. short hand it is sXe. i keep my "straight-edgeness" to my self most of the time. it's my choice for life, and i dont intend on bragging about it or bringing it up. i live it each day. and i am not backing down.
