Michael DeLatin is the shit!
19๐ 30๐
No shit - usually used sarcastically, as in, obviously
Dumb shit - dumb person
Shit happens - bad stuff happens.
Bullshit - when someone says 'Bullshit!' it means they assume the person they're talking to is lying, bullshit means 'Lies'.
The shit - good stuff.
Shit! - used in exclamation, to show surprise, disappointment, anger, disbelief, you get the drift.
Jackshit - don't know how to define it. But when someone says 'you don't know jackshit' it means the person doesn't know anything.
Shit - it can mean stuff. In the most literal way I can think of that is used today, it means excretions and stuff. Poo. Crap. Whatever you call it.
'I scored 18 goals.'
'Bullshit!'
'Black Sabbath is the shit!'
'Shit! I lost my phone.'
'Shit! No way!'
'Shit, what the hell is going on?'
'Shit. We lost.'
'You didn't hear jackshit!'
'There was a huge pile of shit in the toilet.'
'Birdshit stained the car window.'

In ancient times thru the late 1700's, hulls of
wooden ships were sealed with various pliable glues or mixtures of sealants. The choice of gluing compounds depended on the location of shipbuilding activities and availability of particular sealants. In southernmost parts of the Roman Empire, the sap or secretion from Shittah trees, a clear sticky and brownish colored substance called "shit" was used in sealing compounds. The wood itself of a Shittah tree is called "shittim" and is known to have been used as planking material in early ship construction. The Shittah sap is very messy and once making contact with the skin or clothing, is extremely difficult to remove. It was not uncommon to hear a ship laborer or bilge worker cry out "I've got shit all over me!"
Through the ages seaman became more and more accustomed to referring to anything nasty, smelly or otherwise distasteful as "shit", in which later even included describing the result of defecation.
Early sailing ship hulls were sealed with shit , a sap secreted from Shittim trees.
