A form of torture.
Typically, two one inch incisions are made at the corners of the victim's mouth. Then the victim is tortured causing them to scream. This tears the flesh along the sides of the mouth, leaving a "grin".
Can alternatively be called a Glasgow Smile .
Heath Ledger's Joker has a Chelsea Grin.

Mostly common for villains, or people, who doing or about to do bad things on purpose for personal satisfaction.
Also known and a facial expression.
An "Evil Grin" is more subtle than a outright "Evil Laugh" but is still fairly exaggerated so as to make sure a viewer can not mistake it for a normal smile.

When you eat a shit load of ribs and you have the sauce all over your face
Guy 1 : "Oy man look at the rib grin on that fat guy eating ribs"
Guy 2 : "Geez! That guy loves hes ribs that is the biggest rib grin ive ever seen!"
The tell-tale grin one gets while IM-ing at work or in class. This grin tends to incriminate the IM-er and lets others know that they aren't staying on task or paying attention.
