Not saying "oif" is somewhat akin to a ( without a ) or unmatched quotation mark. The practice is still somewhat alive on IRC and (to an even lesser degree) other means of net chat. It has, however, to a large degree been replaced by the fish slap.

This word is used to instantly win an argument If someone is insulting you. For example, someone is roasting you, and in response, you say "Bonk". They will be visibly confused to why you just said Bonk randomly, this works even better if you walked away right afterwards.
