csi-ititis

When one watches too many episodes of CSI (Las Vegas, New York, or the terrible Miami). The subject may start to investigate clues that he or she sees on a daily basis. Can lead to dilusional thoughts like whether or not someone is stalking you, whether or not Mrs. Jenkin's cat was murdered, or that you will be wrongly convicted of a murder because you left a fingerprint on your remote control.

I have developed csi-ititis from watching a marathon of csi on the spike tv channel.

CSI effect

The CSI effect is a phenomenon that now frustrates the american legal system. Prospective jurors are beginning to have unrealistic expectations of forensic technique and expect airtight cases with slam-dunk convictions. While television makes things look easy(as always), the fact is, that forensic science involves excruciatingly long procedures(DNA testing takes days/weeks, not hours to do) and don't always produce conclusive results. Experts blame the popularity of the the television shows Law and Order and CSI(hence the name). The CSI effect also applies to criminals who attempt to cover up their crimes by countering techniques seen on television, such as shaving off body hair to prevent leaving DNA.

A possible sign of the CSI effect: American universities are experiencing a sharp increase in students studying forensic science. However, this may be as much due to the publicity of the OJ Simpson and Scott Peterson murder trials

CSI Miami

The first spinoff of CSI. Set in Miami and centers around Leuitenant Horatio Caine and his team of CSI's. But despite being CSIs they hardly need to use forensics to solve their crimes. Horatio Caine has a sixth sense for knowing who did it and why. But he is not the lone superhero on the team. CSI Eric Delko has been shot numerous times, including twice in the head. But did he die? No. Did he get any longterm damage? No.

The average CSI Miami episode consists of many bikini clad girls, a high profile murder usually about drugs, money or both, horatio making a few snappy one liners and removing and putting on his sunglasses a dozen times. And when they need to fill the rest of the forty five minutes they include a few jokes at Ryan Wolfe's expense, usually about his height (or lack of it), a few Eric/Calleigh love scenes, and Horatio shooting a half a dozen guys for no apparent reason. And don't be surprised if the episode ends with Horatio secretly beating up a suspect.

Person1: "Did you see CSI Miami last night?"
Person2: "Yah. How on earth does Horatio get all those beautiful girls and how does a brazilian ginger exsist?"
Person 1:"Did you see when Eric was shot? I swear they've already used that storyline before:
Person 2:"I think they are recycling them. Last week Ryan was framed once again for a crime."

Going CSI

When one's love juices have soiled an area due to careless social activitities. The abundance of remnant DNA would certainly lead to a conviction on any crime drama.

"WTF?!? Why is the couch all sticky?"

"Yo man my girl came over last night and we was going CSI right where you be sittin"

CSI Facebook

When you login to Facebook and your friend count is down (noticeable if you're older and don't add everyone you've ever seen). The ensuing investigation can resemble complex forensics, as you examine your pages to profile the missing candidate.

(p.s. To save time, it's always a girl).

Kenny: Logged onto the 'Book last night. Friend Count was down by one.
Brad: So - just the 12 now?
Kenny: Uh-huh. Had to 'CSI Facebook' for 7 minutes to pull up a suspect, you feel me?
Brad: Jenny?
Kenny: Yeahhh!! How'd you know?
Brad: Man. Next time -just let her have one of your fries.
Kenny: Hmm. True dat!
