demo effect

The fact of device working perfectly always except when demonstrated for an audience. Something unexpected that goes wrong only when someone else than just oneself is seeing.
Somewhat connected to Murphy's law.

Deal would have been easily closed but the machine developed a demo effect during introduction.

Laying a Demo

1. To record a song/rap
2. To shoot someone

3. A significant bowel movement

Ex. 1

Elliot works the mixing board. DeMarcus enters.

Elliot: Check it out Broseph! I'm laying a demo!

DaMarcus: What's it called?

Elliot: "I Make Crap Music and You Love Me For It." Think of it as System of Down meets KISS.

DaMarcus: That's gonna be chart topper.

Ex. 2

DJ Gangsta Pimp Dogg (rapping): "Some suckas in the Yoch be talkin' some schlemo / So I pull out the strap and start laying a demo."

Ex. 3

BJ's stomach rumbles.

BJ: Oh no. I knew I should have avoided the second helping of Rocky Mountain Oysters.

Stu: As they say, what goes in must come out.

BJ: And I'm gonna be laying a demo in a minute.

Let's demo on a half-bird ... The act of eating half a chicken with ones chums.

Extended Demo

To (mostly) get a game illegally in order to test it out.
If the results are as good as you have imagined, you buy it legally.

Sometimes, in online RPGs for example, extended demos are impossible due to serial-keys or secured servers.

"I didn't buy the game. I wanted to try the extended demo, first"

demo-riche

A liberal celebrity, movie or television programme that promotes the liberal Democrat ideal of elite government control under the intellectualist and socialist democrat philosophies of compassionate authority, such as universalists like Walt Disney, William Shatner or Stephen Hawking, or liberal activists like Lady Gaga, Oprah Winfrey or Hannah Montana, or liberal movies like "The Lion King", "Hercules" or "Sister Act", or liberal special events like Sydney 2000, Disney World events or Pops does the Fourth.

I kind of think that my girlfriend is too demo-riche.
