It can be down to anything, but it’s mainly the art style that gets associated with the site.
Guy 1: Yo, that image looks like the most newgrounds thing i’ve ever seen.

A die-hard user of the notorious content-sharing site Newgrounds. They tend to have a dark or retarded sense of humor from the many Newgrounds-related flash games and movies they have watched as a kid. Despite that they are still pretty cool to hang with.
Newgrounder: *makes a joke about a tragic event or sensitive topic*
Guy: "You can't joke about that!"
Guy 2: "Did you forget? He's a Newgrounder"
